I am technically not supposed to bring undue attention to the banner, however due to the fact that I've been receiving many questions about it I probably should at least explain why it is here.

Contrary to what some are thinking, our server and hosting has not changed the slightest bit during the past few days, we're still on the same dedicated host as we've always been. Dedicated hosting, however, is not cheap (most plans in the $100+ per month range). While this can be covered with funding from my direction, it would exclude funding in other areas and improvements. Most non-commercial sites on dedicated hosts require advertisements of some sort to stay online, since they cannot really sustain themselves in any other way. This, along with the fact that I will not accept donations of any sort, is the reason that the banner is there.

Fear not, however, for there will never be popups or "pop-unders". I hate them as much as you, and the last thing you want is a webmaster who is perpetually and systematically disgruntled with his own site. deal.gif

I am sorry that I must add the banner, at least for now, but it is the only inconvenience I plan on implementing in exchange for our services and the upkeep of the community.

Bleh, don't make it sound so formal, Cspace, it's just a stupid banner. bluetongue.gif

It's not as if it causes us any trouble, really. Yeah, I guess one person might say that it's annoying to accidentally click one, but, hey, that only happens when you're half-asleep. (Or drunk. biglaugh.gif)

Besides, I'm sure it takes at least somewhat of a bite out of the $100+ you spend for all of us every month. You spoil us. grnwink.gif

rofl, you realize that because they are contextual adds, and with these posts about webhosts and not haveing popups, all the adds are about cheep hosting and popup killers. lol.
personaly, i'm fine with them, as long as they don't get any biger.

They're advertising MMORPGs. Of course, to them, MMORPG mean, "MultiMediaOnlineRecruitmentPropagandaGenerator"

I think Google is against all that, perhaps if it's brought up to them they will do something.

Please scratch what I just said, those sites can be blocked if they ever come up. While outright malicious sites (including hacking sites) are not permitted in the banners, Ebay and a few other sites have deals of some sort where their search pages are automatically (and legally) submitted. Some physically safe however iffy things from their direction could come up.

I just blocked the specific Ebay ad, so it shouldn't come up here anymore after one or two hours. If anything else comes up please let me know.

Thanks

If you say autominer, it'll bring up an ad for one. So spell everything wrong. rofl.gif
