Here's my next one. I know I got a little saggy at a few parts...But...Bare with me...Once Phieta gets back from his vacation, I'll get him to read it and give me some pointers on it. Then we modify them for the website. grnwink.gif This one, there is a guest appearence. Darkdream, as Rei, the furry little crazy kitten.

Enjoy!
Thought a bit melancholy at this point, you would be too if you got hit by an arrow that hard. bluetongue.gif If you're new to reading my stuff (since the recent ones aren't on the site) And are interested as to why I appear so oddly damaged in this one, contact me via PM and I'll get some past stories to you. Remember to always visit my website/Phieta host website.

QUOTE
Journal Entry—August 14th of the eighth moon
Was any of this real? Or was it all just a dream? … Am I…dead? Or am I alive? … I feel a force inside of my chest. It burns and it bleeds. I choke and sputter, is there any way out? Could it be possible that this source of light. A light at a tunnel. But why a tunnel? Why a light? Why me? Was any of this real? …Or was it just a dream?

I awoke in a bed. It was a very uncomfortable white bed. A woman dressed in peasant clothes came in with a tray and sat it next to me on the bedside table. Her face looked worried; very worried, perhaps for someone important? She pulled from the tray a piece of cloth. She dunked the cloth in a bowl, upon lifting it my acute hearing picked up the drizzling of water. I even smelled it. I determined, for now, that I was alive. I watched as she moved the cloth up to lay it over my head. My eyes grew wide and I tried to bat her hand away, but, I realized that when I tried to…I ceased to move and I found myself submerged in a torrent of pain. She squealed as I did so, thinking that she’d get fired probably. Quickly she hoisted me back onto the bed.

“Don’t do that!”  She screamed into my face. Her own face was timid and dreary; she looked as though she would cry.

“I…I…” I mustered, my throat was dry and I couldn’t speak. I began wondering what the hell had happened…But taking one look at my arm, or remains of it, told me so. My arm was pretty bent up itself, but overall it looked just fine in the nice silken black sling it was put it. Obviously it wasn’t anything WE had…And I doubt that hospitals now served black silk instead of white cloth. Doing all I could, I sighed in relief and sank into the hard springs. She laid the cloth over my head timidly and backed off. Looks like I scared the living piss out of the poor girl.

It wasn’t long before a doctor entered the room with a small mug of drink. It was steaming hot in his hands with a frothy bubble from the top. I seemed to pay more attention to that rather than my friends slipping inwards with the doctor.

“Now…Do not upset zi’s patient or I’ll haff yoo’ throooone out!” He said in a kooky tone as he set the mug on the bedside table. Honestly, I don’t think any of the troupe looked like they took his warning seriously. Nothing in THIS town could stop them…Well…Maybe a few things, but not a mad doctor.

I watched the mug with big bright gleaming eyes, whimpering to the lack of arm usage I had. Not only was my right my dominant hand…But this table was to my right, I’d have to roll over and ONTO my arm to get the mug with my left…I decided against another scare for the poor nurse. Mike saw my poor antiques, but advised against doing anything ‘till the doctor and nurse left. Once they did, Mike hopped forward…

“DEAR GOD RUCKUS!” He screamed, “Are you alright?” He said, pacing back and forth mumbling little curses to the hooded assailant that had obviously failed.

“M….Miiii…” I wailed in a lost tone. Mike continued the pacing and mumbling. Well…Dan came through for me. He stepped forward, grabbed the mug and helped me up to a sitting position easily. He held the mug up to my maw, encouraging my left hand to take it. I took the mug and sipped idly…I shivered and twitched, ears rasping together and tail wriggling like a snake out of the side.
“Hot Chocolate with butterscotch!” I squealed before beginning to guzzle the delicious liquid.
The whole group seemed a little bit cheerier at that. After finishing my drink we chatted a bit before the doctor waltzed back into the room. Krako turned to him, “Good god man! Can’t we have any time alone?!” Well…It seemed Krako was our new aggressive man of the group.

The doctor paused a moment, then cringed his eyes at Krako…He was none too pleased. “I just came to tell you…Fox…Guy? You have another visitor.” He said, moving out of the way as Airwalk proceeded into the room. Everyone greeted him…Except I. It seemed he didn’t stop thanking the others and start noticing me until I slammed the empty mug on the side table and shifted beneath the sheets. I now lay faced away from the group, towards a big…Empty…Cement wall. The wall reminded me of how I felt…I took a hit for the team, but…No one cared; or so it seemed. It didn’t seem that anyone noticed me until I had actually climbed out of the bed and put on some clothes. As I fastened off my pants with the cord of rope I used for a belt, the others looked at me.
“Where are -you- going, Ruckus?” Dan asked me.
I didn’t reply. Tightening my sling I got myself set. The black cloth wound around my head really wasn’t so bad…At least it didn’t clash with my other colors—Black.

Upon exiting the hospital type of shanty, I gazed out at Adrounge. It felt so odd, I had no purpose here. I dared not to steal with my less dominant hand. Skulking away I made for the bank. I figured I’d try to find some information about this “’Lo”. Before I could reach the bank three beer gutted men stepped out. They were all wearing studded leather, along with ugly looking caps to seat themselves atop their equally ugly faces.
“Well look what the…Uh…Fox dragged in? Eh? Get it? Hehehe.” The middle one snickered happily.
“’Cheaaah…” One to the side treaded lazily, “’ee’s a thief…I’ve seen ‘em around here before. Let’s see where ‘is stash is, eh?” A smile grew on his face as well.

Reacting instantly, I reached for my dagger, unsheathing it I brandished it a moment for them to witness, then pierced forward with my weaker left hand. Lacking power and dexterity; the dagger bounced off of a stud in the middle man’s armor. He reacted instantly to move his bulk fat hand to grip my arm and twist me around backwards.
“You’re pretty pitiful for a thief…” He replied, almost sympathetic.
“Huh huh, yeah. Shouldn’t weee…Uhh—ZRRTPH!” Before he could finish his sentence, he was leveled by an arrow to the chest.
“’Old on there ole Ruckus! ‘Ere comin’ fer ya!” The voice belonged to a man we all knew as “Final.” He was a respectable man and an excellent marksman. Better than me by far! He was an experienced “Adventurer” and a supposed “Legend” Among the lands.

“Not one more step!” The big man grabbed a stubby cutlass from the dead one to his side to hold it to my throat. I squeaked softly, really not in the mood for this. Final, however, ignored the warning and notched another arrow; twanging the string far back it went far enough to launch his ear with it, by far. I could feel the large man quavering, he was frightened of Final, and he had good reason to be too. Releasing the arrow, its cyan blue four pronged tip melded itself with the meaty flesh of his other comrade, making easy work of the studded leather. It occurred to me at this moment…Final said “we’re” and that meant more than one. But…All I saw was Final. He nodded upwards towards the shingles of a roof top. Before either the fat man, or I, could turn our heads in time, a woman came pouncing down from it. Latching herself to his back she ripped at his neck viciously. Screaming he released me, and, of course, I moved like the smart little being I was. Turning completely around, we were both able to see who she was. There stood a woman about five feet three inches. She was wielding a long maple staff in an experienced stance. And…You’ll never believe this…She had a tail…and ears…Of a feline. They were of a neat fine gray and black mixture, much as a tabby cat would have. Twirling her staff she spoke nothing, but her aura emitted danger. Screeching the bandit made a run for it—futile I tell you. Fighting like a warrior she twirled her staff and flung it. Instead of aiming for the head, she somehow landed it imbetween his legs just right so that it flung him to the ground. Upon the earth shattering crash, she flung herself upon his body, and opening her jaws, she sunk large canines into his neck. Analyzing the predicament with my anatomy skills; I determined that she was hoping to, and was, piercing his neck artery. After I was helped to my feet by Final he and I discussed a few things while the cat woman cleaned herself off.

“Well, Ruckus, how’ve you been?” He gave me a snipe grin.
“Oh…Here, there, everywhere I suppose.” I said readjusting my sling.
“Well…That’s good. That’s really good. Well…Watch out for this cat woman. She’s crazy. She’ll steal all your food, and believe me, Ruck; she can pack her tuck if’n ya know what I mean.”

And just like that…He deserted me…Left with this crazy…Insane…Lethal woman that I hardly knew. But…the more I analyzed this half feralized woman, the more it came apparent to me. She was, in truth, gorgeous and gracious. Slender petite build with all the perfect curves. She was quite moderately busty…Dare I say it, more than the raccoon maid? Not that this prohibited her from fight. I already saw her raged fury which took swift vengeance on my attackers. As her golden orbs emitted a gaze that seemed to melt through my very soul, she pressed on to approach me. Stammering back a few steps I stood stiff with the wall and hoped to meld with the stone and darkness. To no avail, she prowled towards me on all fours, un-phased by my meager attempt to hide. Whimpering, I flattened myself some more, turning my head to the side I prepared myself for the worst. Upon reaching me, she stood up on two legs. She took some sniffs at me…It started at my face, then she quickly took interest in my wounded arm, then to my other. She scanned each of my limbs. Then…To my embarrassment, she started at the middle near the bottom and rose up. She must have sniffed every inch of me before finally throwing me to the ground.

And so I was…Wincing as I impacted the soft soiled earth I dared not to make too much movement, especially with my back so prone. I felt her above me, and then, she slumped her rear end down right on my back. Well…I felt odd, as would any normal…Or…Half normal, man would. Before I could respond to this, however, I felt a sharp pang on my left ear. It was her canine!  She was holding a bite onto my ear! However...I knew what she was doing. Remember this, I was part feral too. She was performing a “trust test” to see if I trusted her at all. Feeling in an awkward mood, I decided to go along with it. A full minute passed in this upsetting position before she finally drew back. Once again, before I could react. I felt something brushing against the back scruff of my neck. This I wasn’t quite sure of until it was actually over. She was rubbing her head along the back of mine for the sake that she—Dare I say?...Was marking me for her own. Her enemies were now my enemies, and her friends were now my friends. I guess it wasn’t all too bad…Better than being alone in the world.

After she had gotten off of me and we chatted a little…Mind you, little meaning I did most the talking, She revealed that she originated from a little village not far from here…The exact same where I was shot. Final was about half right when he warned me…I later found that she could in fact pack away a lot of food; but she was good company. I told her tales of where I had gone, things I had done, people I had seen. While all along she walked to my side, nodding and using her staff to walk. It was odd…I wasn’t sure how to put it, but that jet black fur told me something. Now I never remember having a mother…but I always get a mental image of what she would have looked like, and there was something that was telling me that something was amiss about her. Sleek looking and overall alone, many a raving lunatic would be found gawping over her looks, yet she was here alone. Her fur, Black, to me, was the color of things all I had lusted for. It resembled to be a very sexy color, yet very mysterious to me all the same. Kept things in shroud and benevolence. I wasn’t really sure whether to trust her or not until we actually reached the point again. The same place I was shot. The crater I had made with my body was still there in the building, but it seems that someone had wiped off the blood. I was glad; I hoped I hadn’t become a burden to the town from that incident. We paced a few more steps past the inn in the direction we had come from before. As I learned more and more about her, she felt a bit more open to me and actually spoke a sentence or two. This also revealed that her name, to my delight, was Rei. Short, simple, and easily mistaken for something small, all defined what she was—Perfect.

It wasn’t much longer of our half one-sided conversations before we reached the near end of the town. We both flickered our ears and with that we were gone. I had detected something disturbing. I can’t really tell you what it is that caused us to do so. It was our instincts that led us to do such things…Another reason I lead on to be a thief—Reflexes and instincts. Flattening myself up against the outer wall of a building many called “The party room.” She was across the road behind a tree. Squatting low she hunkered behind the tree and then looked over to me. I pushed up against that wall as much as I could before nodding over to her. She replied with a little sign language she made up. Taking her first two fingers she poked them at her eyes, then outwards; she was encouraging me to look. I obeyed my “mistress” and peered around the corner, then quickly reversed. There was a fellow dressed in traveling clothes not far down the road next to the clearing. I had remembered this man from before…He was the man in the tavern. Returning a glance to Rei, I paused, grimaced, and shook my head violently. Then, returning her own hand signals, I repeated what she did for me; this time, encouraging her to look, as if to say “It’s safe!” She took the look and then nodded to me. Raising her arm to mid-level she cupped her hand facing downwards and wriggled it forwards. By this she meant “Move on up.” And so I did. Sidling along the wall I reached the other end, and from there, I spun a quick spin to hide behind a large maple tree. The tactical spinning was something I learned from a traveling saboteur once…He advised it because, if done quickly enough, people who only get a glance of you figure it’s either a shadow, a smoke cloud, or if they do recognize you, they don’t know which way you’re going.

Advancing further ahead I was able to depict two people among the plains. Looking over I nodded to Rei, now hiding behind a bigger tree. She nodded as well and gave me a weird little signal. I wasn’t sure what this one meant, it was…Indescribable, and very fast. Whatever it meant, I leapt out and dashed towards the two. Upon reaching them, there was only one. It was the man from the pub; he was stirring along on his violin. Bull rushing, I sped on. He, however, side-stepped my attack and watched as I slipped and fell while attempting to turn. It was a lot harder with only one hand to do it with. Turning to me he grinned and continued to play a very high and dramatic tune, “Well…If it isn’t the little fox. Hmm…” A sneer was wrought to his lips. Looking past him, I saw Rei the vicious tabby cat pounding down on him. My eyes transfixed themselves on her as she continued to run at full speed. Just when I thought she had him, he spun a quick one-eighty and clashed his violin stick to her face. She yelped and crashed to his side in agony. Upon seeing the crimpled up shamble of blood and tears I had learned to enjoy I hopped up with a fiery vigor in my eyes. “You’ll pay. You’ll definitely pay!” I commanded as I dashed forward. He barely escaped my first attack, a swooshing slash to the ankle. However, as he hopped up to evade the attack, this opened an opportunity for me. Turning around in mid-air I slung my dagger. It swung by, but it still ripped out a good chunk of his shoulder. After doing this, he fell down to one knee to cuss about the deep gash. I smacked the earth, and my lovely assistant finally took initiative.

Hopping up she grabbed his head and pulled it to the side. He yelped nervously and swung his sharp dangerous violin shaft, before she stepped on it, that is. Crushing his only weapon, Rei leaned in and sunk her teeth into his exposed neck flesh. A blood curdling scream emitted from the man and he fell limp.

Very nice! :thunb: Glad you're back to doing these. Every time I read one, I say to myself, "and the plot thickens..." bluetongue.gif

As for the site... well, there's only two entries missing including this one bluetongue.gif And why not? I'm lazy. 100webspace kinda sucks now. I haven't had time. I'm killing the Fellowship.
