SwiftSwitch and SwiftSwitch Lite F.A.Q

[ -What is swiftswitch?- ]

SwiftSwitch is a RuneScape client that plays both the RuneScape Classic and RuneScape version of the game. SwiftSwitch was created by a member of RSC named Strider3282.

SwiftSwitch was created in Visual Basic 6 and uses the Internet Explorer shdocvw.dll control to view Runescape. Which is exactly what Internet Explorer uses. Runescape is not loaded from a foreign source, but loaded from www.runescape.com. Simply put, SwiftSwitch is just like a browser such as Internet Explorer, Firefox ect. but with tools and handy links designed specifically for Runescape players.

SwiftSwitch does NOT give any unfair adavantages what-so-ever.

Where can I get it?

[ -What is Swiftswitch Lite?- ]

SwiftSwitch Lite is a version of swiftswitch that has been made for the people who have computers that tend to hang or stop responding when using the regular SwiftSwitch. It contains everything except the skill calculators, which will be added soon, themes, and clan directory. It is basically the same as the regular SwiftSwitch but without those few things and the fancy looking buttons.

Where can I get it?

[ -What does switchswitch do, and does it have any features?- ]

SwiftSwitch is a great client because you have access to many features that are right at your fingertips. You can take screenshots just by clicking a button! You can also go to the Servers menu and click on the world you’d like to play on. You can also select your Java type, and you can link yourself to the RuneScape homepage. Under the Utilities Menu, you can view guides for skills in RuneScape and RuneScape Classic, and you can utilize many things like Microsoft Paint and Calculator, that you can use for screenshots and calculating amount of xp, respectively. You can find out the server status in each world, so you won’t have to face a ‘Server Busy’ when you go to a certain world. You can also use the IRC Chat on SwiftSwitch and talk with a number of people online playing the game. You can also go to Links and just with a click of a button, the client will start your Internet browser and it will take you to sites like RuneHQ, RSC, RV, Tip.it, etc.

[ -Can I get hacked using switchswitch?- ]

No, you cannot get hacked using SwiftSwitch, directly because of the use of the client. However, if you do not have Norton Internet Security or any Firewall, you can still risk yourself being hacked, even if you don’t use SwiftSwitch and if you play on www.runescape.com. Strider3282 made the client so that it would not be linked to any keyloggers or viruses, and it’s working perfectly fine. However, if you involve yourself in illegal activities like autoing, macroing, etc, you can get your account hacked by these distrusted illegal cheating sites.

[ -Is swiftswitch legal?- ]

This is a common question asked when using any RuneScape client. However, using the SwiftSwitch client cannot ban you and you can only get banned using the client if you perform illegal activities like macroing, autoing or if you break any of the JaGeX rules while you are playing the game. Viewthis page if you want to see the RuneScape Rulebook. Also, Strider3282 proved that his client is legit many times. The only problem Jagex has had with the client is that it was blocking the ads, which has been fixed. Here are some messages directly from Jagex saying that SwiftSwitch is allowed:

http://img23.exs.cx/...87/Image534.jpg

http://img66.exs.cx/...33/Image696.jpg

http://img113.exs.cx...041117043ep.jpg

http://img53.exs.cx/...60/jagex1yz.jpg

Also, SwiftSwitch does not give you an advantage in the game at all. This rule:
QUOTE(Jagex's Rules)
"You must not attempt to use other programs (e.g. bots, macros or autominers) in conjunction with our games to give
yourself an unfair advantage at the game. You also may not circumvent any of our mechanisms designed to log out inactive users automatically."
This rule does not apply to SwiftSwitch, as it does not give anyone an unfair advantage in the game.

QUOTE(MDW)
1. SwiftSwitch DOES NOT give ANYONE an advantage. All SS does is give you links to guides, and to worlds. The links to the worlds should be no issue, because JaGex still has it protected with the transfering of the profile.

2. It does not violate rule 7 at all.

3. The biggest thing that Andrew had a fit about, were the ADs. You cannot view them with the SS client, however, you can with the SS Lite. I would also like to note, that if JaGex wants to throw this big of fit about the ads not being about to be seen, they need to make an annocement about ad blockers as well. They don't allow you to see the ads, but I don't see JaGex gaving that big of fit about that. It doesn't make sense to me. How can he go after SS for blocking the ads, when there are OTHER programs that do it? The way I see it, is if hes going after SS, he needs to go after them all. Its like saying you can't use a gun to kill someone, but you can use a knife. Makes no sense at all.

4. We understand that JaGex does not recommend the use of Third-Party Clients (TPCs), that is only a warning to you. Thing is, SS has been proven to be fine, despite the argument about the "holes" in it. RSC has never condoned the use of cheating clients, bots, marco, and ect. Why would we start now? Why would we hurt RuneScape and our members at RSC? It just doesn't add up.

SwiftSwitch Chat

Swiftswitch chat is a part of the SwiftSwitch client, or can be accessed on mIRC. The chat is provided for players to get to know each other and also find new friends, or even meet old friends.

To access this feature of SwiftSwitch, you can either have your client maximised and click "show chat," or you can click "utilities" in the main menu at top of client and click "client" and then IRC chat. You are simply required to enter a nickname and then you may enter. Once you enter you may chat away, although we do have some rules, and they may be viewed here.

If you intend to use the chat often, we would prefer if you also registered your nickname so people could not use it and pretend they are you. However, with this, you will also have to identify yourself every time you enter the chat with your nickname. For more information on registering your nickname and identifying, maximise your client and click on the "chat help" button in the center-bottom of the client. You may also find other useful hints via the help button, including how to change your nickname in chat.

Operators in chat are simply there to keep your time in SwiftSwitch chat as enjoyable as possible. They have the power to kick and ban if they see fit. So 1 of the main rules is always respect the op.

Voices are generally people that are active in chat and are there often.

Note: spamming will not be tolerated, 1st you will receive a kick and if it persists a ban is usually in order.

If you are using mIRC, I generally think you would know to get around on it. Just simply type /server swiftswitch.fluxirc.com j- #swiftswitch and hit enter. That should bring you into swiftswitch chat.

From all the ops in Swiftswitch chat we hope you enjoy your time using SwiftSwitch and SwiftSwitch chat.

[ -A required file, MSVBVM60.DLL was not found- ]

A. If you recieve a message similar to "A required file, MSVBVM60.DLL was not found" or "Class not registered, MSSTDFM.DLL needs to be installed on your machine" when running the client, you need to install the Visual Basic 6 runtime files. Because these files already exist on most PCs, we do not distribute them with the installation package. You may install these runtime files by downloading and installing this VB6 Runtime Files package.

[ -Component 'pjrCharmeleon.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registed: a file is missing or invalid.- ]

If you recieve this message then it means that you installed swiftswitch on your computer user account that does not have sufficient permissions to register ocx's. If it's your parents computer ask them kindly if they could install SwiftSwitch for you on the admin account. If it your own computer simple log out and log onto the admin account.

[ -Component 'MSCOMCTL.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registed: a file is missing or invalid.- ]

If you recieve this message then it means that you installed swiftswitch on your computer user account that does not have sufficient permissions to register ocx's. If it's your parents computer ask them kindly if they could install SwiftSwitch for you on the admin account. If it your own computer simple log out and log onto the admin account.

[ -When I maximse the screen I can only see half buttons. How am I able to see everything?- ]

You need to change your screen resolution. To do this go to My Computer/Control Pannel/Display then hit the settings tab and change it to 1024x768.

[ -Is there a hotkey for taking screenshots?- ]

Yes there is, its F12.

[ -Why is SwiftSwitch asking for internet access via my firewall?- ]

If it doesnt have access to the internet how do you expect to play runescape?

[ -All I'm getting is a page cannot be displayed or Action Cancelled. Whats wrong?- ]

You've denied SwiftSwitch access to the internet via your firewall, the way to reverse this action varies. Sometimes you can simply re-install SwiftSwitch and it should ask you again. You can also check the blocked list in your firewall's settings, then just remove it from there and add it to the alowed list.

[ -My Fast World Switching buttons have gone!- ]

Dont pannic, simply go to file/options/settings and select Hide F.W.S Buttons off.

[ -My Fast World Switching Buttons have disabled and they wont re-enable!- ]

Simple choose a server from the servers menu, it will then re-enable them.

[ -My buttons and text is all black, I cant see anything!- ]

Go to file/options/settings and set ALL your settings, especially your theme settings.

[ -The combat calculator is inaccurate- ]

There is no perfect runescape 2 combat calculator out yet. Sometimes the claculator will be off by a bit but it's usually pretty good. Please don't report this as a bug.

[ -I can't see the whole applet on Free to Play.- ]

If you are forced to, click servers then "Scroll Applet Down"

How to report a bug

If you have come across a bug in SwiftSwitch, please post it and include these few things:

A screenshot of the bug if possible
Your Operating System.(XP,98, ect.)
SwiftSwitch Version
What you were doing at the time it happened

When creating the topic, name it: "Bug: Description"
As an example if it was a Fishing calculator bug, you would put: "Bug: Fishing Calc."

The more infomation you provide me, the easier it will be or me to find out what is going on.

Take a look at it here:
SwiftSwitch

Just a note to add to this, if we get 5 people using this and 40+ members registered on our forum (which by far we have done biglaugh.gif ) we can get SeeD into the clan database hence bringing in new members. thumb.gif

Please read this first. I know that Andrew has posted about this on RSC, but it seems something is being settled...

SwiftSwitch News: SwiftSwitch is back!

Hoorah! Well I'm back from vacation as you might of noticed. As soon as I got back I began working on SwiftSwitch. I have made a few changes to the way it's set up but it's pretty much still the same. Also this time, it is OK with Jagex. I've spoken to Andrew and we've come up with a way to have SwiftSwitch set up that is alright by them.

Members won't notice much of a difference at all, but Free players will notice that they do now see the ad's. They're there and they're there to stay. So please don't complain. For those who use 800x600, you will need to select the new "Scroll applet down" button in the server's menu to see all of the RS Applet.

So spread the word and tell people that it's legal if they update to 1.33. Also if you see anyone running around saying SwiftSwitch is illegal and you'll get banned for using it. Set em straight, ;-)

I'd prefer not to download anything to run a game from.. unless it was from the main site itself..
Overwhelmed as one would be, placed in my position.
Such a heavy burden now to be "The One".
Born to bear and read to all the details of our ending
To write it down for all the world to see.

Hm, it might be legal again. There used to be a stickied thread on the main runescape forums, in the general forum titled "world switchers are not allowed" or something of the sort. I just checked now and...no more thread. O.o So, maybe they did work something out after all...

Oh, I'm not using it either until they finally make a thread about it on the official runescape forums. I just noticed that the thread was gone that they had just posted about 2 weeks ago which would make it seem like they were re-thinking it. Was just stating my observation bluetongue.gif
