"See, I think drugs have done some *good* things for us, I really do. And if you don’t believe drugs have done good things for us, do me a Favor: go home tonight and take all your albums, all your tapes, and all your cd’s and burn em’. 'Cause you know what? The musicians who’ve made all that great music that’s enhanced your lives throughout the years... Rrrrrrrrrrrrreal {expletive ninja'd by Cspace} high on drugs." -- Bill Hicks
"Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration. That we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves. Here's Tom with the weather." -- Bill Hicks
"It's not a war on drugs, it's a war on personal freedom. Keep that in mind at all times." -- Bill Hicks
I was going to suggest the iRiver H320, which I requested for my birthday... but you said no. $300, 20 gigs, plenty of features.
iPods are also good, even though you have to deal with iTunes and such.
Those are the only ones I have experience with (through friends). Currently I only own an mp3-CD player by Sony... it's decent enough, but I want something better now

I have dell, works fine, except for some reason it has frozen twice, but all you have to do is take a safty pin and stick it in the reset button and it works
i recommend u buy a small mp3 player, i have like 500 songs on my ipod and i listen to a few. i change my playlist everyweek, so u can just buy a small mp3 and change everyweek or something

I hope that wasn't a dig at iTunes...
No, I've been using it for a few weeks instead of Winamp (installed it for the Pepsi thing) and it's actually quite nice. I was referring to having to load the iPod through iTunes instead of just being able to drag-n-drop. I've heard horror stories of an "error 69" or somesuch... <_<

You said not the i river or i pod, i would suggest the i river, but other wise, Go for Creative, no probs. Cheaper, 5 gig muvo with fm radio and stuff, comes with other features, or there is the Zen touch, 20, 30 or 40 gig same features and stuff, pretty good
