I have recently taken up smithing and mining much more than I used to. I must say, while doing that is good times, giving it away is better times. What the heck is this guy talking about? That is what you just thought, right? I'm talking about new players, and how you can really help them out by donating some of your excess armor to them. Honestly, you have a lot left over after training your smithing, right? Well, give it away! Wanna know why?

-It makes p2p members and high level members look better, since they already take a lot of heat for being stuck up.

-It gives you experience from making all that armor.

-If you are making full steel, you should already have enough weapons and armor where a few donated things won't matter.

-It makes you feel good, as well as whoever you give your stuff to!

-If done enough, it makes the game better, since it will promote better feelings towards our newer players.

Honestly, aside from greed, there is no reason you should not want to give away all of that extra steel armor, since it is taking up space. How much is it worth, anyways? 4k? 5k? Can you put a price on better player relationships? And that is what Runescape is lacking: better relationships between players. And when I say all of this, I do not mean go out and empty your bank to a lvl 3, so don't get me wrong. I simply mean common curtosey. It costs nothing, and makes you feel good. Heck, for weeks on end sometimes, I have volunteered as a tour guide for new players. If someone asks where a crafting shop is, just be a good player and walk them to Al Kharid. God forbid you miss 5 or 6 fights with whatever you are training on, right? This call goes out to every player in Runescape. I know we can be better, we just need to try!

a while ago my membership ran out for a few days so i was stuck on the free worlds, and determined for it not to be a waste of time, i made lots of different armours (up to full steel), helped show people around and gave cash to the newbies who were trying to train something (not to beggers though).

you know what good came of it? they all started begging off me more. this is about 9 people before i got tired of trying to do something and put my PM list back to "freinds", so if you want to try it and be begged, go ahead. you may have better luck than me. but i've given up trying to help people randomly as they all want to have there hands held and "free stuff".

Same here. The problem with RuneScape is there are to many beggars that are too lazy to work for there stuff. And I don't care if they are new to the game. If you give to new players free stuff they will start to learn to beg for stuff. So unless there is a profit for me I am not giving away any of my items.

We march... We march to war... We march... We fight... We are Spartans. Blood will fall, but it will not be ours... We march... Sparta is war reborn... we are the children of war... We are Spartans.
I am Leonidas, and this is my story. I have met the wolf, felt its bite, and I have survived. These new wolves are neverending, but Sparta will show true might. Though we fall, still we will come for we are war incarnate. I have started this, and so must I finish it. Xerxes shall die, this I, Leonidas, warlord of Sparta, do say. This is the story of the 300... the story of Spartan heroism. Though we bled the ground red at Thermopolyae, still we live on.
War is Sparta, We are Spartans. We are War!

Yeah I can understand where u guys are coming from. I can only make iron items so when I see someone with lower amour I help them out but some do beg for it then I just stop there for the night and if they keep up I can tell them I will report them to the game and they stop for awhile. I stoped to get more money as the most I have ever got was 5k.

I keep drops of steel and above items, then on the way back to the bank I give them to anyone lower than lvl 20 who I come across. Anytime anyone asks an answerable question, I stop what I'm doing to help them. 90% of the people I give things to, or help with something, do not pester me with begging. The 10% that do, I ask them to stop and 9% of them will, the other 1% can always go on the ignore list.

He is not saying live like robin hood, he is just extolling the virtue of kindness and common courtesy. I would have to call anyone a spoiled snob who will not help someone because they might ask for more help in the future. What kind of backward philosophy is that?

I am combat lvl 90 and skill total 1100, almost all of my rs career being spent on f2p. Beggars can be annoying, but you can still help people. Spend some time explaining to beggars why they should not beg, I have, and sometimes it works.

Which is why RS doesn't interest me anymore. bluetongue.gif Members is pretty much the only way to go for RS, they get all the updates very frequently and F2P literally doesn't get anything. indiff.gif The excitement is taken away when you see another version 10 times better right in front of you. icon_sweatdrop.gif
