I really don't know where to put this, but since it is sorta like a myth, and I feel comfortable having it in my forums, I think I'll keep it here. This is the story about our future, starting from today. This obviously isn't true, especially because it isn't the future yet. bluetongue.gif In this story, you will find some pretty neat ideas and inventions that will soon be part of our lives, and some that might not be. Either way, it's cool to think about the future like this:

Part 1: World War III

The year is 2007. The war on terror was heating up, as America and her allies invaded Lebanon and Syria. In response to this, radical islamic militants banded together and formed an alliance across the middle east. A vast, new superpower was born overnight, stretching from Egypt to India, encompassing all the muslim nations in between. The new empire was known as Neo Persia. With hardened resolve and determination, Neo Persia declaired was on the United States. Almost every nation in Europe, as well as the United States, and other far-eastern countries were very dependant on the oil reserves of the middle east. Fearing for their economies, they banded together and attacked Neo Persia. China and Japan, aided by hindu-resistance factions of India, invaded Afghanistan and Pakistand from the east, pouring massive amouts of troops into the fight. America, England, Spain, France, Germany, and Italy begain building up their forces in the newly conquered countries of Lebanon and Syria, as well as defending Israel to the death. Russia was massing their forces in preparation for an invasion from the north. Thus, the third world war began.

The allied forces viewed this is a war of freedom and for the defense of the world economy, but the muslims viewed this as a holy war, something that was uninteded by a majority of the countires against them. As China pushed westward into Neo-Persian territory, they met with heavy resistance in Islamabad, capitol of Pakistan. Though they outnumbered the pakistanies four to one, the Chinese were unprepared for urban combat. As muslim resistance fighters flocked to the city in droves, the Chinese were held back from advancing any further.

On the western front, things were very different. The Europeans had invaded and claimed most of Turkey, and were also caught up in the same situation as China was. American and Israel, on the other hand, began setting up a strong and powerful defense as Iraq, Iran and Saudi Arabia invaded from the east, and Egypt from the west. It was at this time that Australia entered the war on the side of the allies. Spain, England and Australia made a strong invasion force to help relieve the Americans entrenched against the Egyptial onslaught. It was critical to the war effort that Egypt be knocked out, and the Suez canal returned to British control. The Egyptians put up heave resistance, but could not compete with the advanced allied technology and their military crumbled under the might of England and Australia. When the country fell back into British hands, it was in ruins Cairo was nothing more than an abandoned pile of rubble, and the canal lay in ruins. Even the great pyramids, used as a last stand bunker system, were destroyed by airial bombing.

It was soon made apperant to the allies that this was indeed a holy war. Every last muslin they came up against, even small children, were wielding weapons against the allies in hatred. Because of the muslim ways, the famales were in no way associated with the Neo Persian war effort, but all the males were considered enemies and killed on sight or take prisoner. Too many casualties were incurred on the side of the allies to justify taking the moral obligation of sparring any enemy lives. This was no longer a war so much as it was a genocide.

As well as the war was going for the allies militarily, economically, their efforts were under a lot of stress. With their forces being held at bay by suicide bombers and urban ambushes, the allies could advance no further into the muslin heartland. Their thirst for oil was becomming to much to bear. Germany and Spain were soon knocked out of the war, their economies in ruin. France, Italy, Russia, and China soon withdrew. A series bombings went off in Tokyo, bringing down several buildings and sending Japan out of the war. No one knows who orchistrated the attacks, but it is widely accepted to have been the work of Neo Perisan terrorists. By 2010, the war had sent the world into a depression similar to the one experience 80 years prior. The Allies made their last stand in Jerusalem, holding off the Persians for as long as they could. With the weight of the depression and the massive pacifist sentiment throughout the country, America and the entire jewish population of Isreal finally withdrew from the holy land, leaving Neo Persia in the hands of the muslims.

Neo Persia was now the sole superpower in the world. They quickly rebuilt their empire and prospered. Basking in the wealth of their oil-rich nation, Neo Persia quickly begain to build up a great and civilized nation that surpased America as the wealthiest nation on earth. Despite the great wealth, they were still greatly behind in technolgy. It didn't matter though, as the world, starving for oil, could do nothing but sit back and watch as their economies slowly degenerated even more.

Part 2: Rebirth of Western Civilization.

In the year 2012, a miracle occurred. In a small labrotory in the basement of Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh, a powerful new technology was born. A strange device that manipulated magnets to bend the laws of physics. This device could produce a magnetic force that could push things away from it without touching the object being pushed. The new technology was call "teleforce." The inventor, Ivan Ray, soon began to imagine the possibilities of his teleforce technology. With the help of his father's multi-billion dollar company, he began work on incorporating this revolutionary creation into existing systems. His first idea was the most obvious. He would make cars that would glide on nothingness. Within 3 years, the first fully-functional commercial hovercar became availible to the public. The world was stunned, to say the least.

This new technology needed no oil, but electricity to operate. Thus, the dependance on middle eastern oil diminished. The only problem was the lack of efficient energy sources. The fossil fuels were nearing a point of exhaustion, and the solar, wind, and hydroelectric power sources were too ineffective. Nuclear fission reactors began increasing more and more in number, but the dangerous waste products becam a huge concern. Then someone had the bright idea of incorporating teleforce technology into creating a fusion reactor. In theory, this would work perfectly, and it did. In 2023, the world's first nuclear fusion reactor went into operation, and power the entire northeast coast of the United States, with energy to spare. A year later, one was operating on the west coast, and then another, and another. Soon, the United States had 8 nuclear fusion reactors powering the entire country. With a safe, clean source of energy, the United States rose out of the depression and once again became a superpower.

The government was also great interested in the potential military uses of teleforce technology. The first ideas were hovertanks, and hoverjets. Helicopters became a thing of the past, and planes got a whole new make-over. All this time, Ray's compain profited in the trillions from all the new inventions and government contracts. Hovertechnology was here to stay, but other, more radical ideas for this technology began to surface. Soon the military created energy shields, and powerful energy based weapons, as a great deal of energy was availible thanks to nuclear fusion. The United States was now 100% impervious to intercontinental ballistic missiles, and fear of Neo-Persia starting a nuclear war with America deminished. For the first time since September 11th, 2001, Americans felt safe. Just about everything soon had energy shields; cars, buildings, boats. Nothing was unsafe... but that very fact greatly disturbed the military.

Wouldn't we all. America shows us the major problem with democracy: people are idiots (not only are they dumb, they can be extremely horrible and evil, especially when it comes to religion), and should not rule themselves.
