Materials:
- You with swimwear, and if you want to avoid excruciating burns when you accidentally run into a pile of leaves, a shirt
- A hose
- Some sort of chunk of bendy plastic, I used those cheap sled things
- Acceptance of the fact that the proccess of making and extending your slide will hurt like hell
- A freind or family member, because that way its more fun and they can be there to hose you down if you get a grassburn (which you won't 0:) )
- A hilly backyard
Goal:
To have a homemade slide thingy, which is fun and for which you can charge people $.05 per ride.
Symoblic representation:
>>>>===================||||||||
> = Accelorator, made out of chunks of plastic laid down on specially treated grass. This gives you your speed.
= = Actual slide. After sliding off the accelorator, this is what allows you to maintain that speed all the way to the end.
| = Brakes. Regular grass, which slowly will turn into part of the slide while you are having fun and stuff.
>>Step one: Building the Accelorator.<<
1. Lay your plastic chunks in a row so that they face downhill. Make sure that there is PLENTY of room for the actual slide and brakes at the end.
2. Take your hose and make the top wet. If you have the right type of plastic, the water should just slide down the plastic, which is exactly what you want.
3.Place the hose UNDER the pastic and let it go for a while. This is more important than you think. If you did it right, the water under the plastic should be flat and squishy.
4. Place the hose on the very top of the plastic, making a sort of a water slide. NOTE: THE PLASTIC IS NOT THE ACTUAL SLIDE! Its just the accelorator, because most people dont have enough plastic to make a decent 50 foot slide.
At the end of this step, you should have an accelorator leading straight into the brakes (the regular grass).

>>Step two: Everything else.<<
1. Place the hose at the top of the plastic so that it flows down like a water slide
2. With a running start, jump onto the accelorator. If you set it up right and have a nice hill, you should be blasted down and should slide through the regular grass
3. You will notice that when you slid down, part of the grass got flattened and slightly moist. Repeat steps 1-2 until you get about 2-3 extra feet added to your slide
4. Take your hose and water down the newly flattened grass to ensure that it stays down and is slippery
5. Repeat step 1-4 until you get a nice 20-30 feet added to your slide.
6. Water down the entire slide.
7. Now that you have a nice-sized slide, you dont have to water it down as often, just leave it at the top of the accelorator.
Finished result
