98 a solid operating system??     

Anyways, I think I will be putting Vista on my computer in the next couple months once I format my computer again, just to check it out.  The I will probably wipe it and put xp pro back on.

When people tell me their Win98 computer is secure, I bypass their screen saver and local profile passwords. When they tell me their Win98 computer is stable, I crash it in a variety of semiamusing ways. I have had no problems with XP; other than accidentally letting SETI or BitTorrent suck up my processing power or bandwidth I've had an extremely stable system (the few random restarts I've experienced I blame on my motherboard resting on its last legs).

As for Vista, I'll probably install Beta 2 to check it out. If it's looking good after several months, I'll probably buy it. As for the anti-piracy stuff? There are always ways around it, and there always will be.

Right.

But the Corporate version of XP doesn't just make it less of a hassle to install on thousands of machines... it makes the hassle nonexistant. No "activation"; no "genuine advantage." Pirates love it because they don't need to install any cracks or whatever to get it working; Microsoft already cracked it themselves.

So while Vista will probably have a mass licensing scheme for large corporations, it's not going to be as pirate-pleasing.

I remember that copy of windows, I had a copy that was starter edition, the thing was a living nightmare. Brings back old times of my computer making strange buzzing and whirring noises.

Be careful if you download a pirate copy because microsoft is really going to be cracking down when Vista comes out. There is about a third of windows xp versions that are cracked, but microsoft plans to crack down on that many systems. But be careful evil microsoft might release a version that pirates get ahold of that actually is just a virus lol.

I'd love to have that winsat thing that is designed for gaming though, it could really give me a huge boost in gaming.

Are you sure we're thinking of the same thing? Starter Edition is less than a year old IIRC. It's insanely limited; it will only run on Celeron and Duron processors, and you can only have 3 applications with up to 3 windows each open at once.

Are you sure we're thinking of the same thing? Starter Edition is less than a year old IIRC. It's insanely limited; it will only run on Celeron and Duron processors, and you can only have 3 applications with up to 3 windows each open at once.

Yes I had starter editon, it was a crappy celeron processorthat I had lol. I remember it all too well phieta.
