I'm just going to list some of the "rules" that members have developed over time on their own, but aren't actually board rules. These would naturally develop as a result of various situations and circumstances on any active board that has been around a long time... In a way they are commonly stated as annoyances, but taken as far as wrongly stating them as "rules" because many other sites have them as such.
This doesn't mean that a member should do these all the time (if at all), because they are sometimes viewed as annoyances on many different sites and would get mixed reactions. Since they are not rules though, a member can do these if he or she feels that it is necessary.

Double-Posting: Double posting is allowed, but not recommended in most circumstances. A moderator can sometimes merge consecutive posts made by the same member, but only if the posts would make sense together.
Reviving Old Threads: This is allowed regardless of what some members say. There is a reason we keep old threads available, and we wouldn't do it if revivals were considered wrong. Please don't do mass-revivals for the sake of reviving though, for in those circumstances it could potentially be viewed as spam. In these circumstances the replies reviving the thread could be removed, sending the thread back to where it was.
All Caps: This is commonly considered an annoyance on the internet because using all caps is often considered yelling. I would highly recommend that posts are not made in all caps, but there's no rule against it because if there were it would be along the lines of censorship.
Writing The Same Thread In Multiple Forums: There is not a rule against this, but the moderators could remove the thread that is in the least-viewed forum (or second if in the same forum) if the threads were made without a logical purpose.

maybe that things have to be REALLY important to be posted in GD?
"See, I think drugs have done some *good* things for us, I really do. And if you don’t believe drugs have done good things for us, do me a Favor: go home tonight and take all your albums, all your tapes, and all your cd’s and burn em’. 'Cause you know what? The musicians who’ve made all that great music that’s enhanced your lives throughout the years...
Rrrrrrrrrrrrreal {expletive ninja'd by Cspace} high on drugs."
-- Bill Hicks
"Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration. That we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves. Here's Tom with the weather."
-- Bill Hicks
"It's not a war on drugs, it's a war on personal freedom. Keep that in mind at all times."

Lol, GD is supposed to be the most active forum. Some members think General Discussion is The Cafeteria's more serious counterpart, when that is not the case at all.
General Discussion is just what its title says... It's a place for any topic to be discussed.
The Cafeteria is basically for post count milestones, amusing chat logs, and "conversation threads". It isn't to filter less serious threads out of GD, it's to filter out some specific types of threads that can be an annoyance elsewhere.
GD doesn't have to be serious, nor does it have to be important. It just has to be general and it has to be a discussion.

GD should actually, under normal circumstances, be our most active forum.
