Neraphym walks slowly on to the battlefield, but he wastes no time. He quickly begins to cast a summon spell.
"I call on the powers of death!"
A ghostly white portal appears beside Neraphym. A dark fog bigs pouring out of the portal...

OOC:
Considering there is no target to begin with, I will ask you to remove all but your first post. I also say, "The battle will begin once you reply to this topic." This is the 'response'. By posting your first action, the indication is that you are ready and arena keepers immediately release the monsters. I ask the players to post first as normally in arenas like these, the monsters come out AFTER the player arrives, not before.
IC:
Rat (2)
100 HP -> 400 HP
30 DP
Bat (2)
200 HP -> 500 HP
40 DP
Drain (Passive): Upon attack, Drain steals 40 HP from target and gives it to the bat.
The rats and the bats attack Neraphym for 140 HP!

OOC: This falls under this rule:
Seeing as how I have nothing to 'fire at will' at yet, I cannot kill you... I take it I am allowed turns to put myself in a good position to start the fight with, though. If you do not agree, I will consent to deleting all but my first post, and then we can begin from there following the standard turn-based procedure.
QUOTE
2) The target has ten minutes to reply with an attack, ability, or escape if not in a ship or defensive structure (if it is a player, not an NPC; NPCs don't have time requirements). If in a defensive structure or ship, the target has 15 minutes to comply (again, if a player). If the target does not respond the attacker can "fire at will" and post attack after attack until the target falls. If the target responds during this process, turns must then be taken and the character has a chance at escape or victory.

As the portal reaches maturity, the fog stops pouring out and dissipates. A dark, wraith-like creatue emerges from the portal, and floats next to Neraphym.
OOC: Note that I have created a node outside of this battle using my powers as an auroranok. This node gives everything, including the monster I am about to fight, an extra 300 Health.

QUOTE
- Summoned beings automatically absorb damage directed at you, and their turns in battle are independent of yours (you can cast a spell and the servant can attack in one turn).
OOC: Damage goes to the elemental. Once the elemental dies, then I can take damage.
BIC: "Death Elemental, I command you to attack that rat!"
The death elemental now locks its gaze upon the rat, sucking in its very life force. The rat loses 120 HP and the Death Elemental ragains 120 of its health. Just then Neraphym darts forward and slams his scepter down on the rat's tiny skull for 55 DP.

Neraphym bashes the injured rat on the head, finishing it off. The death elemental turns its sights on the second rat and absorbs the life away from it.

The Death elemental sucks away at the rat's remaining life points, killing it and restoring its own health by 105. Neraphym then assaults one of the bats for 55 damage.
Edit:
OOC: Is that bat's absorb attack considered a physical attack or an ability?
