If you've been listening at all, you *combine* them to get 6 slots in your account, however you can keep them seperate for 4 slots each on different accounts, but then you won't be able to travel between both continents, and I doubt your chapter one account can use half of the new stuff coming out.

So, if I were to get factions first, but then got the original afterwards, would I get the character slots? And can characters interact with each if they are in different games (one in the original, the other in factions)?
Sorry for all the questions, just kind of confused, this is different than anything I've seen before with games.

One pack would get you four character slots, then by adding the CD key of the other into the *same account* (logging on, and then adding the new CD key) you get another two.
If characters couldn't interact, it would be very bad for guilds, since not everyone will buy factions straight away. Think of it like this, Chapter 1 will give you access to Tyria, and Chapter 2 will give you access to Cantha. Guilds, or more specifically the Guild Halls aren't situated in Tyria or Cantha, so you can still go there. If you have both Chapters, then you'll be able to move between the two from the main port Lions Arch (Tyria) and Seitung Harbor (Cantha).

Yep, I just read through those and they helped a lot.
I guess my last question is do they give out free copies?

Confirmed by Anet (borrowed from Guildwiki):
A Guild Hall Service is the name given to a wide class of people whom a Guild Leader can employ (for money) to provide their services in the Guild Hall. This feature is only available in Guild Wars: Factions. The confirmed services are:
* Xunlai Agent
* Dye Trader
* Material Trader
* Rare Material Trader
* Rune Trader
* Scroll Trader
* Skill Trainer
* Priest of Balthazar
* Merchant
* Weaponsmith
Now...the real question is...do they fight for you too?

Yeah, I was thinking the guild storage was just putting a Xunlai Agent in. No actual guild storage methinks.
