The Big Day Out's a huge Australasian music festival that's been going on since 1992 in Australia and 1994 in NZ. A pretty big line up this year with Iggy Pop and The Stooges, The White Stripes, Franz Ferdinand, The Mars Volta, Shihad, Mudvayne, The Living End and much more rock, dance and rap acts.

I was lucky enough to go this year, and made a little summary in LOTPW

Some stuff I have to say:

1) Best band: Franz Ferdinand <3
2) Biggest crowd: Iggy and The Stooges packed the field in Ericsson Satdium + the stands :O
3) Best mosh pit: Mudvayne, was intense
4) Most surprising mosh pit: Franz Ferdinand, 12 year old girls can be vicious
5) Funniest line: Tie between "We're sorry the other bands are so ****ing gay" - Deja Voodoo and "Come on you fag sucking mother****ers!" - Iggy Pop In context it was hilarious hh
6) Best song: 'Logan's a pussy' - Die! Die! Die!
7) Weirdest Sideshow: Tie between The Silent Disco (You walk into this place and put on some headphones which are hooked up to one of 2 DJ's and you dance... Funniest hing to look at ) and The Lords of Lightning (2 guys stand on big metal towers in mesh suits and fire electricity out of their hands Looked so awesome)

All in all, it was awesome, and I got 2 new shirts

The Auckland one was the first of 6 in cities in Australasia, next one is in Perth tomorrow

From New Zealand we have a world first, the LORDS OF LIGHTNING with their DUAL TESLA COIL BATTLE. The is not for the faint hearted. Two people will wear metal mesh costumes and stand on top of the multi-million volt drivers, literally transmitting lightning from their hands. (SELECTED SHOWS)
