Due to an increase in member-sponsored events, I figured that I should list some things to keep in mind when planning an event. Many SeeDs have planned great and well thought out events and ideas, though some seem to have trouble with having people show up. The reason for this is not because SeeDs don't want to be involved with events, but often due to confusion. This thread will probably help with planning successful events and parties:

- Always provide a time zone. If you don't, many players will show up at the wrong time (for example, 2:00 P.M. Eastern Standard Time is the same as 11:00 A.M. Pacific Time).

- Put all of the details for the event in the first post, don't keep adding things throughout the thread (can get confusing).

- Always mention the server and location

- Always plan events at least a week (or more) in advance.

- Don't post multiple threads about the same event, or people will not know where to look for information.

- Always put the event on the forum calendar to remind everyone about it.

- Remember to post as many details as you can think of.

- Try not to make events overly complex, or there is a chance that they won't turn out the way you'd expect.

- Always arrive at the event at least 10 minutes early (for some events, I would even arrive up to an hour early if necessary).

-Make you don't have on any chat blocks (depends what game you're in) so that those attending will be able to contact you.

- Try not to plan events on school holidays, since not everyone would be home at that time. Also try not to schedule events for major holidays like Christmas. Weekends are usually best, even during breaks.

- If you host an event, make sure you are committed to the idea before posting it. If you get an idea, wait a day or two, and see if you're still interested the day after. Spontaneous ideas can lead to loss of interest, resulting in an unsuccessful event.

I may add more to this list eventually, but what I list here has all been tested and are guaranteed to increase the number of members who attend. grnwink.gif

I've been posting multiple of threads about my contest, but I put in the title and forum of the original post about it. Another problem is last minute notices about the time and date because not everybody checks the SeeD forums every day so noone will show up like what has happened to me many times.

hey,

Cspace i would like to be able to make up an event that will be like a race but i will have check points an hopefully it will be very good but for now i am still thinking it out an when i get it all thought out an you look at it you can tell me if its ok or not good, an on a side note i will also pay a good sum of money an hold bets for the winners because from what i have thought up so far it will be as llong or longer then the wilderness race an people will have to show stuff that they have been at the check point i have sigted out for it. so if i do get a good plan an you approve of it then i will ask you to post it on the forums so that lots can try it. thumb.gif

Sorry for resurrecting this long dead topic, but I need to know. How do you post things on the calendar?

Wow... I really shouldn't be bringing this back...
HI! I'M BACK SPORADICALLY! Nobody probably remembers me :(

To add an event to the calendar:
Click the link to the calendar which is found up the top of the page, next to help, search and members.
Then go down the bottom of the calendar page and click "Add new event".
it's easy thumb.gif

Cspace i say this site should have like an offical SeeD clock so when plp post the times plp can refer to the offical site clock so it will be less confusing and much easier.

I changed this:

QUOTE
- Turn off your PM block about 20 minutes before the event begins, and try to keep it off until everyone shows up.

To this:

QUOTE
-Make you don't have on any chat blocks (depends what game you're in) so that those attending will be able to contact you.

Just to keep it from being completely related to RuneScape. bluetongue.gif
