Yep, I did, and I have to say the game's alright from what I've seen on the island. Might as well get the full game afterwards, since it won't cost me anything more than £3-£5 a month on my SOE account by doing so. I know the guild's not that active, but it could help with having a couple more characters in it.

Bit disappointed at everyone expecting rangers to use bows all the time, I'm pretty happy just running in duel wielding, myself icon_sweatdrop.gif ..

Well, their ranged attacks are pretty awesome later on. It's fun to get an even-leveled mob down to below half health before it reaches me, when I pull out two swords to finish it off. bluetongue.gif

But that's something not everyone would like, hehe. Perhaps you should try a swashbuckler or brigand? They can do a ton of damage and don't rely on ranged weapons. Perhaps you'd also like a troubadour or dirge as well. They don't do as much damage, but they're fairly versatile and aren't quite as common. All of those classes I listed are dual-wielding scouts, although some troubadours and dirges choose to use a one-handed weapon and a shield.

If you want to be an all-out melee dual wielder though, check out a berserker. They're a tank/dps hybrid in a way (leaning more toward tank), but can dual wield. They aren't quite as versatile though.

Blah, ok.. Remade Tirr as a Swashbuckler then, though I still like the ranger's invis move for the animation bluetongue.gif. Also, tried out the monk class (I like hand-to-hand user posted image)
.

I read somewhere that when you do the betrayal quest to change to the other faction that you get to rechoose your class, or at least change into one avaliable.. So I thought if that was possible, I could get a Dark Elf to become a monk by doing that quest.

Monks are awesome, and they aren't all that common in comparison to some of the other classes. They also get feign death later on, hehe. bluetongue.gif

Unless they changed that aspect of the quest, you will keep your class if it exists as a class in Qeynos (such as guardian, fury, etc.). If it is a Freeport-only class such as a bruiser, I am pretty sure that you will become the Qeynos equivalent (monk). I'd recommend that you check with someone else first though, for I haven't actually tried the betrayal quest (and I think they made some recent changes to it).

And yep, you should be able to make a dark elf monk that way.

Surely you mean Shadowknight when you talk about the Monk equivelent.. Anyway, I knew you'd keep your class usualy, I just heard from other people that faction specific classes get a choice or something. Nevermind.

Well, actually a shadowknight is the evil equivalent of a paladin in EQ2. They were originally connected by the 'Crusader' class when they used the old class tree. A bruiser is the evil equivalent of a monk, originally connected by the 'Brawler' class in the old system.

Now that I think about it, I'm not entirely sure how they reworked the betrayal quests. However, I'm pretty sure that the class you end up with is either the same (if it exists on both sides) or the good equivalent of what you had in Freeport. Originally, you could not do the betrayal quest once you attain your final class (such as monk, ranger, etc.), and that prevented class issues since the basic classes in the class tree were the same in both cities. Now, I'm not positive of how they are doing it.

Which is strange, because shadowknight is where monk is and bruiser is where paladin is in the character selection menu.. I was thinking that because shadowknight was on the same button as Monk, then I could change to monk by betrayal...

edit: Dang it to 'eck. After extensive, extensive searching, I found it is bruiser after all. These things need to be clearer. So now I'll need to delete my shadowknight and make it again as a bruiser. Also, I might as well change the test-bruiser I have into a warden, want to check that out a bit..
