Civil rights

People have fought for their believes and freedom, but the civil rights movement has been one that has changed the face of the way people see other people.
The case of Brown vs. Board of education is the starting point of the civil rights movement. Legal and sociological arguments presented by NAACP lawyers led by Thurgood Marshall, the court stressed that minority children by segregation hindered their full development no matter how equal physical facilities might be. After hearing further arguments on the implications, the court declared in 1955 that schools must be desegregated, with speed.
The little rock nine were the result of the cause that brown made. Because the cases that brown vs. board made the little rock nine got to go to school. They went to an “all white school” and because of the case, they were allowed to go to the school.
After the little rock nine there was a march on Washington and this was the biggest imprint that was made. Nationwide outrage was sparked by media coverage of police actions in Birmingham, Alabama, where attack dogs and fire hoses were turned against protestors, many of whom were in their early teens or younger. Martin Luther King, Jr., was arrested and jailed during these protests, writing his famous Letter From Birmingham City Jail, which advocates civil disobedience against unjust laws. Dozens of additional demonstrations took place across the country, from California to New York, culminating in the March on Washington. President Kennedy backed a Civil Rights Act, which was stalled in Congress by the summer.
Since the march on Washington didn’t seem that it was effective the black panthers formed to see if violence could shake the white’s foundation. The Black Panthers was a militant party, founded in 1966. Party members became involved in a series of violent confrontations with the police some resulting from direct shoot-outs with the police and some from independent charges.
Even thought the black panthers game shook things up, but the civil rights act of 1968 was the final step that happened that seemed to have effect. For the first time since the Supreme Court ruled on segregation in public schools in 1954, the federal government had a means of enforcing desegregation

It takes about 142.18 licks to reach the center of a tootsie pop.

Falling stars, Rising Tides
Looking inside, as my heart hides
From the world and all its pains
Battered bruised, scared and stained

From town to town, state to state
Alone I stood, alone I wait
Until the day, you touched my life
To end my suffering, seize my strife

Over the hills, across the seas
Although your far away from me
When I awake I feel your breath
So if I have to, I'll wait till death

We'll lie together, side by side
No longer now, will my heart hide
Whether far away, or high above
I know at least, we have our love
