not everything you read on sites like wikipedia is true.
whereas not everything on the Internet is true, everything you say is false.

we don't have pictures of brown Jesus in the Vatican because Jesus is traditionally portrayed as white in Europe, and the Vatican is not an institution to let go of tradition at all. it would probably raise an uproar if pictures of brown Jesus were hung up in the Vatican, but for no good reason at all.

I know the basic tenets of Christianity, but am not Bible-literate. Was the skin color of Jesus ever mentioned in the Bible?
And now we have the quote of the day, from greenl2l: PLONGED!!!

still, white people have pailer skin than cuacasions... not everything you read on sites like wikipedia is true. hmm, being cuacasion may explain why i don't get sunburns as often as most other kids... i rarely need sunscreen TheSmile.gif

You may not get sunburn as often as others, but you still have the same chances of skin cancer grnwink.gifgrnwink.gifgrnwink.gif

And about Jesus being black/dark/whatever, it's more than likely, as he was born in the Middle East, to have dark skin. In the Middle Ages he was painted with fair skin, blue eyes etc. because people didn't want to think that the son of God was dark skinned. The tradition has stuck, and Jesus is almost always portrayed as a fair skinned guy with a beard.

i'm not sure whether or not it was mentioned in the Bible. i don't think that Jesus's skin color has anything to do with Christian beliefs, however.

It isn't. Jesus most likely looked like the average Middle Eastern man you see today.

While we are arguing about what race Jesus is, he's sitting up in heaven shaking his head. Why does it matter? Seriously. nonono2.gif

To be perfectly honest, it doesn't matter to me either way what race he is/was.

I was just looking for a small example for when Kaezion said it was a fact that he wasn't white.

I'm not discouraged either way.
Overwhelmed as one would be, placed in my position.
Such a heavy burden now to be "The One".
Born to bear and read to all the details of our ending
To write it down for all the world to see.

Look, i dont have time to catch up on every page to read. But if you want my opinion...

We're all human, and we all make mistakes.

Some of us, are not born with the luxury of having the finer things in life..

And im not just talking about house hold items, and cars and all that other junk.

But more of a role model in life.

We are who we are by choice...And only in that essence can we learn to become better than what we are.

You talk about poverty, and people with better oppurtunity.

You limit yourself, with your own ambitions.. and it's only in giving up in that dream or fighting for what we want - that we can finally get what we want.

You also mentioned Jesus i see...What about all other religious figures in the world??

Whos to say they have been truely faithful and honest to you?

Dont believe what you see with your eyes and hear ears...

There more hidden in that closest then you would ever imagine.

My opinion about Jesus, believe him if you like -

Finally my point.. the only way we can truely surpass this endless rutz , is by stop identifying each other by color..

And start learning that we're all human:

We're not perfect.. We won't ever will be.

jesus might have been as ugly as ever, and had the darkest skin possible, but he would still have a beautiful mind. you can't just say jesus was white or black or any other race because:
1. the bible never mentioned it as far as i know
2. there isn't any evidence of what race he was unless you find the bones of one of his brothers and determine it from those.
