You need:

(something) roots - use a rope with the southern winch and its around the corner

(some sort of chemical) - near the first tent are barrels marked with a red x, use a vial with them then use it with the expert

grounded charcoal - dig in the training area till you get some charcoal then use it with a pestle and mortar

(some powder) - go to the northern winch, use the rope with it then go down. Talk to the workman and keep choosing the top option till he gives you a key, go back to the tent and unlock the chest then get the expert to identify it.
