I was just wondering, how many still play AoE III? Perhaps we could do some stuff again. While my schedule is relentlessly random ( screama.gif ), I would be glad to help if possible. bluetongue.gif

I bought that game, played it a couple times but never really got into it. I like AoE II much better. I think the biggest thing that I don't like about it is that the timeline progressed to far and its not medieval enough for me.

It's a pseudo-historical strategy game based around the conflicts between the powers colonizing the New World.

Unfortunately, AoE II doesn't have a good online gaming area, but if you ever want to play a few games there with other members of the faction, feel free to post here. thumb.gif

In non-Cspace terms, it is a medieval RTS. bluetongue.gif Probably the most popular RTS series of all time (Command & Conquer and Blizzard Entertainment's -craft games are pretty big too).

I am going to try to get more non-SeeD members from AoE fansites to join, because there really isn't enough activity in SeeD without them. If you want to help me, just Google AoE (III), find their forums, register (add SeeD to your name and sig etc if you want), find the clan section and post a promo thread. I might ask Cspace to volunteer to make a generic promo as well. bluetongue.gif

Things which you should look at:

SKoA - http://skoa.cspacezone.com/ , if you have any Age of Empires games.

The DS Garden Festival Minigame - Link , whether you play DStorm or not.

The Most Mysterious SSSS - Link For people who don't care about...things.

Like LEGO? Play Blockland!

Nothing will ever top Starcraft. Starcraft is the perfect RTS.

But yeah, I have AoE3, but I can't get it to work. sad.gif I have a new computer, though, and it should run on that. I suck at this game, though.

No. -.- Starcraft is way too old and fast-paced, although I only played it a little.

I'm not to great myself, I think I might be more skilled at RoL actually. It doesn't really matter how good you are. thumb.gif

They're making a game called Joint Task force. It's like Starcraft, but it's set in the 21st century and it looks amazing. biglaugh.gif

Star Wars: Empire At War is also a good game in this genre. Not sure if I'm biased though, hehe. bluetongue.gif

However, I really like AoE III... Can't speak for the previous versions, haven't tried them, but I know they were really popular.

Something in particular that I like about AoE III (maybe all of the AoE games, dunno) is that the maps are random, and you can customize your strategies a little more with the home city feature. Most other RTS games that I've played seem to feel like a race when in multiplayer... See who can hit the resources first and which heroes can take out the most static spawn points before confronting the enemy. Of what I've played with AoE III, you have to be able to adapt a little bit more and exploration is necessary. There is a general formula to the situations, but it still feels fresh even when you play it a bit.

I also like the setting, which is not as common in games like this.

***********************************

Anyway, I really do want to help with this faction. I'm not that great, haven't played in a while, but if we're planning on promoting KoA I guess I'll have a reason to get better. bluetongue.gif

Oh, and if anyone is having trouble running AoE in a way that is playable, try turning down the shader and shadow settings. For me at least, both had a big effect on my framerate.

Starcraft may be old, but you'll never find a more perfectly balanced game.

As for AoE3, it kept freezing on ship battles... so I don't play it anymore. Once I get my new comp up and running in college, I might give it a shot. I still have Fable and Factions on the top of my list, though.
