We can definitely live in peace between the religions... until one decides to blow ones self up in front of a bus station so he can rape 72 virgins in eternal paradise. Oh wait, that's not rape. Women are legally pieces of doggy poo in the eyes of the sharia, an Islamic system of law set in stone. It takes 4 men of impecable character (can never have scratched their own butts in public) to have witnessed a rape to get a conviction.
Alpha. You obviously don't have the slightest clue about Islamic Shariah. Firstly, if someone commits suicide, they would not be in Paradise. In fact, if someone commits suicide, they would be punished in hell forever. Secondly, if someone commits rape, they would also be sent to hell forever. Thirdly, women should be treated equally to men, according to the Islamic Shariah.
Hmm, perhaps my Legal Systems teacher was wrong, or perhaps the Shariah is like the bible, in that there are an infinite diferent number of interpritations that can be made from it (all of which are maintained to be correct...). I do not know much about Islam, I will admit this. The only part I meant to referrence to your Shariah was the rape. In my law class, I was told that women have practically no 'legal' value. Is what I said about the testimony of 4 perfect men not right?
The Pope recently quoted a 1400 year old text describing Islam as a violent religion. In response to this outragous lie, effigies of the Pope were burnt, churches were bombed, and a nun was slain.
To make things clear, initially the pope never said he was quoting from a 1400 year old text, which sparked anger across muslims and some violence. After the violence, the pope said he was quoting from a 1400 year old text, and then the violence stops. In my opinion, I have to admit that violence was the wrong way to go about it in the first place, but not everyone has the same opinions. Only a very small minority of muslims reacted with violence, so it's important that you and everyone who read that understands that a minority DOES NOT represents the whole of Islam.
Basically, if you don't know something, don't make it up. It's also people like you who make the situation worse.
Yeah, I really don't know what to believe about Islam anymore. All I hear is 'Islam is a violent religion, but Muslims are mostly peaceful'. I'm tired of it. I can't condone an evil religion, even if it is only a small fraction of it doing bad. If you are a muslim who likes peace, I like you. If you are a muslim who likes violence, prepare to die. If you are a muslim who likes peace, but won't get out of the way when I go to kill the muslim that likes violence, then prepare to die yourself. Same goes for you Christians, hindus, shintos, atheists, and pastafarians. Peace > Religion.

Partially correct. It does not require 4 "perfect men". It requires 4 trustworthy men. This is because all those years ago, punishments for these types of crimes resulted in severe punishments. Sometimes death. It was also possible for women to make false claims, which is why four men were needed (due to the hefty punishments). However, the message has always been to prepare for the punishment (hell) if they carried out this crime, which to most, if not all, muslims is enough to repel them.

I admit that no one is perfect, but labeling a leader of a world country as a war criminal. What kind of crimes has George Bush committed to be even remotely considered a war criminal. (Ignore that statement, there are probably a million things people can say about George Bush)
If him being an idiot and signing away the privacy of the American Public for illegal phone tapping, not to mention the violation of the Geneva convention by water trapping (Or whatever is it where you either deprive a person of water or dunk them in water and then pull them out again. Not sure what it is called, sorry.) Then yes he could be considered a war criminal. Compared to some of the crimes that the Hussein family has committed...I really wouldnt call George Bush a criminal. No one is perfect...and the method used to get information from a person I would consider to be unconstitutional to say the least, but at the same time he is also doing his job. All in all, there are a lot of things American intelligence could have done to prevent these kind of crimes. I kinda look at it from the Double Edged Sword perception. For all the damage that the President has brought, there has been some good coming out of his administration. Still I think it's time to either A impeach and/or get someone else in office that is not willing to do methods that would violate the Geneva Convention. (Water Dunking or Tapping, whatever it is called.) I'm going to have to read over the Geneva convention and see what it says about Water Dunking. But all in all, the new bill that George Bush wants to pass to allow CIA interrogators to use tough tactics on suspected terrorists and known terrorists; I am totally against that bil and do not want it to pass. Even if it's in the name of national security, this bill is total crap. How are we supposed to know what our government is doing if it's all secret?

"Well, sure, officer, I did steal that candy bar from the store... but c'mon, what about that guy that stole all those computers last week? Compared to that, surely you can't call me a criminal!"
Also, the bill you mentioned that you don't want passed... IIUC, it would essentially pardon Bush & Co. for all of this stuff (including the secret prisons) after-the-fact.*
*I fully admit that I have no clue what I'm talking about. I haven't had time to examine the issue in detail; been kinda busy lately. Feel free to look into it yourself and prove me wrong.
Those who will remember, will speak fondly of the warm morning breeze.
