I guess I shouldn't be... I have the sneaking suspicion the movie didn't stick very closely with the original story though. I can't say I'm well versed in Old English so it doesn't seem worth the effort of checking for myself.

Yeah, I think they decided if it was CG and they coloured her skin gold and removed *ahem* 'features' that they could get away with her being naked throughout the entire movie. Also she has a tail...
Unfortunately there was a lot of naked Beowulf in it too... Seriously, what was with that? He kept stripping before fighting stuff.
