I'd like to take this time to remind all of the registered voters we have here that your right to vote comes with the responsibility to make sure you're well-informed. So please...
- If you don't understand the issues at hand, don't vote.
- If you don't know where the candidates stand on those issues, don't vote.
- If you're planning to vote for whoever and whatever is most likely to win because you don't want to "waste" your vote on the losing side, don't vote.
- If you're planning to vote along party lines, don't vote. (Unless you've actually examined the issues and still agree with your party of choice, of course.)
- If you're planning to vote based solely on political advertisements (including those "voter guide" mailers), don't vote. Most of them bend the truth and leave out crucial details. A few lie outright.
"i didn't really care i just voted wat my dad did" —a friend of mine on AIM. (Yes, "voted." Past tense. Absentee ballot.)
