There are a number of quests to unlock skills for your secondary near the beginning of both Prophecies and Factions. Prophecies kind of has the advantage there because all throughout the game you get given quests which unlock skills for your primary and secondary, so you don't have to buy as many.

Yes... biglaugh.gif

*Thinks of that as a excuse to buy Factions*

Yeah, silly me....I completely forgot about your ranger! And, well, if you can explain how the Mesmer team would work, then we could definitely try it out. 7 Mesmers (Tanny, calm down bluetongue.gif) and a Spirit Ranger could be fun. Any ideas of the skills we'd use and stuff? It sounds like a pretty good idea, so I'd like to hear more about it.

My Xfire stopped working since update 1.66, nearly after a whole year of using Xfire flawlessly with no problems until now. Anyways, I'll check this forum semi-often, or Jonny/Goto can tell me on MSN if we're going to get together for a TA session. I'm not about to let this thread fall down off the first page either, nobody's posted in 8 days on this thread.

Let's do this,

I'd love to do this soon, but I'm going to be very busy for a few weeks, while I prepare for exams. I'll try and get onto MSN more often, but I'm not promising anything bluetongue.gif. I'm very happy for you guys to take a replacement, instead of me, so you don't have to wait. My last exam is on 26th January, so I won't be able to do alot until then.

Oh, and I thought I'd just mention that after I reach a certain point in Nightfall, my graphics card gives up and fails on me. It means that I won't be able to get any of the new skills, except for the ones in Kamadan. I'll aim at getting a replacement graphics card soon, so we can be a little more competitive when/if(bluetongue.gif) it comes to GvG.

Bump, and I'm also planning on building a new computer around Christmas/New Years time, so by then I will have eliminated any problems I get graphically with Guild Wars.

*revived because of meeting* Well apparently, all four (or was it five) that met up today discussed build strategies and all that (which i think is listed already in other post). But aside from builds, what about tactical strategies? For example.....Should we take advantage of bottlenecks on maps to take advantage of AoE spells? (Which I heard, aren't all that useful in PvP) or attempt to pinch-attack on two fronts?

Well, it's common for teams in GvG to split their team, but this depends on the builds they use. For example, some balanced builds split into three. One would be an offensive team, another defensive, and the other split would be the flag runner. The goal of the offensive team could be to wipe out the NPC's of the opposing team at the opening stage of the battle, with the defensive team defending the base. The flag runner, as the name suggests bluetongue.gif, would take the flag from the base to the flag stand.

If we are facing a team which has many Necromancers, it's likely that the team will be a spike team. So, if we split, it would force the spike team to split, making their spikes ineffective, due to fewer people spiking a person. For example, the opposing team could have 6 Necromancers and two Monks. By not splitting, 6 Necromancers would easily spike anyone. But if we split, forcing them to split into two teams, with each team having 3 Necromancers and one Monk, it would reduce the damage from their spike significantly.

I hope I've explained that okay bluetongue.gif

As for AoE, it's not that effective in PvP except when used against NPC's, or the odd unaware opponent. It could be pretty effective in narrow places, but I don't know of any maps with narrow places.

Edit: There's a tour of the guild halls here, which should come in handy if we ever get going

Well, the only situation where AoE spells would be good is when a ritualist spirt spammer is on the opposing team. But I guess that's only a situational call.

Anywho, it seems that any plan is better than no plan in a GvG. I actually had my first taste of GvG a couple days ago with people on our alliance (majority of em were from DFA). Yea, we got worked and then some. It was basically chaotic I guess.

So as I was saying, maybe having everyone on teamspeak or something would make it less chaotic and pass on info faster than typing. Just a thought.

Yep, everyone hopping on TeamSpeak would be a great idea. It can definitely benefit us hugely. Just out of curiosity, how did DFA prepare? Did they tell you to run a certain build, and did they have a specific line-up? Did they give you any instructions on your specific role, and did the team have any specific tactics? I just thought it would be interesting to see how other guilds prepare, and what kind of things they do in GvG.

Anyway, as for us doing some GvG, it just seems that many of us that are active seem to be occupied with PvE. We haven't done any recruiting and we haven't practiced PvP. At the meeting we had last month, we wanted to have at least one unranked GvG victory by the end of February. It seems we may not even recruit a single person by the end of February.

We need people who are not going to spoil the friendly environment here at SeeD and DoA, and as some have said, going into outposts and spamming "DoA recruiting..." isn't going to get us those types of people. Holding events in populated outposts could work, because we can see how friendly someone is. But why hold events when in the last three events the guild has held, the turnouts have been 2, 3 and 4? Maybe we need to recruit more people so we can have better turnouts for events and we can do some GvG. But then we need to recruit the right type of people, and this seems as though it can only be done through events....

Is it just me or is this the stumbling block at the moment?

Acutally, they just if anyone in the alliance wanted to join them in some unranked GvG. Never asked what kind of build I was running or what I should be doing. Well, I figured I would just do my best and use the match as a practice for kiting and spike damage whenever I saw fit. The team they put out looked good on paper though (other than the fact that one of the monks was a hero), 2 warrior, 1 necro, 1 ele, 2 monks, 1 ranger, and 1 mesmer.

Onto your last question. I think it attributes that we are all spread out timezone wise. That coupled with the fact that some us play only between certain hours, it becomes hit or miss if one should see another online.

I've finally got a mic again, yay. bluetongue.gif

Unfortunately it's hard to know if everyone else does, making something like teamspeak or ventrilo a bit tricky. I mean if everyone can listen in and there's just one person giving orders and co-ordinating that could be okay, but it's a problem if nearly everyone is talking in there, because it makes it harder for others to get information across.
