As most of us know from various announcements, we're going to be having a week-long thing going for SeeD's fifth anniversary. To have the week be continuously interesting, we'll need events and contests. Since it is SeeD's anniversary and not CurvedSpace's, there should be more weight on game-related things, especially in-game events. These events can be held in any game in which we have a faction, and can also be held in games in which we don't as long as there is interest to do something there. Remember that factions are not required for us to be active in a game.

I realize completely that such events cannot be available to everyone. These would be faction events or events for other groups of players, and if a member doesn't have the game in which we're having an event, obviously he/she cannot attend. Being a multi-game guild requires organization on the community level more than the game level, for our members cannot realistically play all of the games others play. This should not be a discouraging factor as long as at least a few play the same game, or if you wish to create activity there by recruiting.

With community-level support and in-game recruiting, the factions would interact and bolster each other here. That's the point of the factions, but that has not been realized because few have really seen the system this way or recruited on their own. While I'm not addressing this in particular, I'm trying to break the misconception that SeeDs belong to all factions and that they should be included somehow in everything. If that were the case, we'd never be capable of doing anything beyond the chat rooms. bluetongue.gif

****************************************************

Anyway, with that behind us, I'll just say that events should be the focus. In-game events, supported by the community and the things going on here. Contests are great, it's awesome to get members into the chat, and activity on the forums is always good... But without anything [semi]organized happening in the games themselves, SeeD may as well just be called CurvedSpace.

Maybe the Garden Festival will be an awakening, who knows. eek13.gif

... And I'm not saying to do no contests or refrain from going to the chat. Completely on the contrary, although if you can choose between something on the site and something in a game, during the Garden Festival choose something in a game. thumb.gif

Oh, and remember to take screenshots. bandit.gif

****************************************************

So, if you have any ideas, feel free to post them here. Remember that if you are in the Garden Festival Committee, you should take a direct part in the Garden Festival to receive a commendation for it.

As for two [and a half] things that I have planned...

- There will be a Runescape event on either the first or last day of the Garden Festival. We're a clan from Runescape. Almost everyone here has an account even if they don't play. Everything that happens during the event will be suitable for everyone, even those who have long left the game (and those with frozen bank accounts indifferent.gif ). I'm still thinking about what will happen, but we may re-create some of our old events and contests. It won't just be a drop party and train, we'll try to make it worth your while, especially for those who may remember the events we'll be holding again. Suggestions are welcome. grnwacko.gif

- A screenshot contest will be held with currently undetermined rewards. They will be for festive SeeDish screenshots in any game. If you are hosting an event during the Garden Festival, it is advised that you get screenshots! Also, even if we don't have a faction or much activity in a particular game, it's okay for you to stage a one-person thing for a screenshot. In some games this may be easy, such as those with fireworks and other similar features. Screenshots help bring the happenings in our factions together for all to see.

- The half-contest will be that the fanfiction contest will be judged during the Garden Festival. Indeed, the deadline was moved to December 1st.

Hangman?
Er... Arcade tournament...
Photoshop (or Paint bluetongue.gif) tennis...
Screenshot contest...
Uh... Three word story...
Costume contest in teh games...
Dueling tournament in RS...

I'll help with forums, chat, and GW. I also might be able to contribute some stuff towards a drop party on RS, I'll check what I've got lying around since I don't have much use for it anymore.

I'll probably be away for part of the week this is running, as will the rest of my group of aussies (Ratty, Darkie, Vege, Sparks, etc.) but I can do some organising and join in on stuff while I'm around.

Maybe some fashion contests in different games, where you take a screenshot of your character and the best in each category wins. That's both game-related and doesn't rely on people having to get on at the same time, although if possible then an in-game award presentation would be more fun. Perhaps we could also integrate the community and the clan aspects by having contests such as game-related quizzes, screenshot contests, writing contests, etc.

I've been trying to think of some things that might work well in GW. There's advantages and disadvantages to events in that game. We have our own space to hang out as a guild, but if a lot of people come we can't really go adventuring as a big group. Tag is always a favourite, but it'd be nice to come up with some new games. I might hold a 'create a build' contest where people have a limited amount of time to come up with a build idea that fits specific criteria, and in Tan's honour there will probably be a category for most useless build. We can try to think up other events to do at the guild hall, plus there is always scrimmages and paper-scissors-rock tournaments. And we could go hang out at an outpost and go help out random newbies, maybe doing some recruiting as we go. Umm.. These post is getting pretty long now, so I might leave it for now and think up other things a bit more coherently later. Oh, and I'll try to gather together a few guildies with those trial keys, in case anyone wants to join in and try out the game. Pretty hefty download unless you know someone with the CDs, though.

Well at the moment I can only contibute to RS and perhaps GW (need to install it again icon_sweatdrop.gif).

Rs:
  • Drop parties are always good. I should be able to get some stuff together to drop.
  • Of course setting fire to towns and killing trees FIREdevil.gif
  • A huge party where everyone of us gets drunk bluetongue.gif
  • Hmm how about a game of tag :o

And for the forums, the list is quite endless :O
  • I guess I could hold a special edition of The Insanity Contest ™ if anyone is still interested in that icon_sweatdrop.gif bluetongue.gif
  • A sig contest sounds good, to suit the occasion of course.
  • How about a special RPG (remember the Jedi one about a year ago? bluetongue.gif) where Cspace can make funky group thingies again? bluetongue.gif

Just a few ideas bluetongue.gif
