Sowwie, havent been paying much attention to the forums the past few days.

Hmm...

*pokes goaty and his puns* bluetongue.gif

What would the surface area of a Capacitor have to be for it to be rated at being 1 Farad, if the conductive plates were 1mm apart?

I'm... not sure whether I should answer that, considering you copied it directly off today's Physics lecture. bluetongue.gif

Heehee. I found it rather amusing :PAnd you -can- answer that, if you'd like. bluetongue.gif Not sure how many others would know the equation for it bluetongue.gif

I can't be bothered calculating it or looking up the slides or whatever, but wasn't it roughly 100 km²?

Is the equation just a manipulated version of the one to work out the capacitance?

Yeah, it would be, since you know everything but the size of the plates, you just solve for area.

Thought so.. problem is I havent studied physics for a long time so rusty.. bluetongue.gif I'm pretty good at Chemistry though but as I think there has been about one question on it XD

Yeah, seems we're all biologists or physicists bluetongue.gif. (Although chemistry is technically a special kind of physics, so you fit in there too bluetongue.gif.)

Well I'd pass some chem questions to you guys if I actually knew much. I'm pretty rusty with what I did learn, though. bluetongue.gif

Hmm.. This shouldn't be too hard. Give me an equation to calculate the effective resistance of 3 resistors in parallel to each other.

Yeah....thats a piece of cake

1/R1 + 1/R2 + 1/R3 = 1/RT where R1, R2 and R3 are the resistance values of the resistors and RT is the total resistance
