Changes to the Forums:
- The post editor is quite a bit improved. The biggest update to the editor is the button in the upper-right corner... It'll set your editor to WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get). This will be very nifty for anyone who prefers not to use tags.
- Profiles were updated quite a bit to help create networks between members. Most of the changes are obvious, but one thing to keep in mind is that some of your fields can only be edited from that view (in your own profile). Such fields have a darker background, just click on them to open the update form.
- The member list was updated to support the new profile view. New options can be found by clicking on a member's display name there.
- This isn't really part of the 2.2 upgrade, but I did some work on all the templates.
Changes to the Blogs:
- We have a completely new blog system. That's a pretty big change to begin with...
If you'd like to make transfers from your old blog, here is the archive.
- You have more control, both in terms of your settings as well as your blog's appearance. Try physically dragging your blocks to other places on the page (including the left side)... Can't get much easier than that.
- You can make custom blocks, and it's very easy since you make them as if you're writing posts. If you ever wanted something random like your favorite pizza toppings, you're able to do that now.
- You can pin blogs for yourself by setting them as favorites. Just click the heart icon next to the blog on the index, and it will always be at the top when you're logged in.
- Many other new features exist as well... Why not try the blogs for yourself?
Changes to the Gallery:
- Like with the blogs, we have a completely new gallery system. If you'd like to transfer your own images, here is an archive for the old gallery.
- You can create your own albums now. Currently the limit is five albums per member (which may be revised at a later date). Only you can post images in your album, if you create it you have control over it.
- Members each have up to 15 megabytes to use for images at this moment. There's no limit on the number of images as long as you have space for them. If you have the programs to do it, you may find it ideal to optimize your images so they don't eat up your space. This doesn't necessarily require you to make your images smaller... Perhaps a guide will be posted later to help with this. The amount of space may be revised at a later date, but alternate accounts should not be made to get around the current limit.
- When you upload an image, it'll be available right away. Just keep in mind that all of the board's rules still apply, and that while you can link to images posted in our gallery, it should not be treated as an upload utility for signatures or other related things.
Enjoy the updates!
