I have a three man *thought four would definitely make it easier* for getting to and killing the imps for icy dragon sword farming. Since I can't log onto GW to bug my usual people, posting here if any of you are interested.

My tank can lend a helping hand. I would offer my ele up for services.....but he hasn't gotten through ascension yet so blah <_<. And my ritualist hasn't unlocked travel to tyria yet.

Hrmm, Tank probably would be too useful here actually. Sorry :-/ I have a way to handle avicara and such without one, and no offense, most tanks would be in deep doo against that many ice imps

Hrmm, do you ever go W/Me? I think that would make a Warrior live a bit longer against the Ice Imps. issue is there are so many *30 or so* that it is tough for a tank. Maybe with mantra of frost you would be able to survive longer, and you could use an energy based warrior build, since you would receive so much energy.

Well I read that hexes are a warrior's weakness.....And presently I have a full gladiator armor set so I can have the extra energy. I could do some research on it later (maybe in an hour) on any builds I can see or make up on my own. Switching my secondary isn't a problem. But, I haven't really played with the mesmer profession (hence why I'm gonna do a little research later).

Making an energy build won't be a problem since I use some of them to support some ele skills. It's just that, I really don't know any mesmer skills.

Hmm southern shiverpeaks, I believe that's the same place where I got an fds as a drop....so perhaps good things are in sight ^_^.

I think Rylkan's point about Warriors was that they don't have the armour against elemental damage that Rangers do, so they'd take more damage from Ice Imps. Since they have to run into melee range, they're going to be a target for most of the enemies there. And although Gladiators provides more max energy, it doesn't give you any more long-term endurance for energy, still a measly 2 regen.

My nuker has Granite, not sure if my Necro does. Fire magic does considerable damage against the imps, but I'm guessing you're running over to them and I'm not sure how well I'd fare with that.

Yea, it sounds like a group of ice imps (and you said around 30 <_<....wow) would probably eat me alive. But, I might just change my secondary to a mesmer anyways, it looks like it has some PvP potential.

I know there was a solo warrior build for ice imps thats why icy dragons got so low... not sure if it has been nerfed or not as i havent played in a while

Yep, Warriors used to be able to farm that area alone, and it has been nerfed a little. It's alot tougher because of the spawn and and the change in the skills used by the Icy Golems. But the build used can still tank the Ice Imps fairly well. Here's the link. It's got a screenshot in the fourth post showing a warrior, with mostly Gladiator's armour, taking 0 damage from the Ice Imp. In the third post, the skills and equipment are shown.

Interesting. I didn't think it impossible for a warrior to solo it, but it is definitely not easy. Will need to read that post later. And sensei, might want to look at mantra of frost if you dont want to go with that build on the forum. I can think of some other skills that would help alot too.

But my plan involves lots of firey barrages. And while two rangers could run it easy enough, might be better to bring a monk in case. Depends on the better chances of a drop versus time to get there to keep monk alive.
