Second Life, Active Worlds or one of those other virtual world things. Long titles are fun.

We have never ventured into the more simulation-orientated side of MMOGs, so, shall we start? I'm not very knowledgable in such matters, but after seeing Four Corners the other day (which I don't frequently watch, don't think I'm that peculiar) I'm quite interested. It was about Second Life primarily, but I now know that there are other 'worlds' of the sort, and I was wondering which is the best, so to speak, and if any of them are worth investing time in.
I have trademarked the symbol: '™'. You fail at display names.

Things which you should look at:

SKoA - http://skoa.cspacezone.com/ , if you have any Age of Empires games.

The DS Garden Festival Minigame - Link , whether you play DStorm or not.

The Most Mysterious SSSS - Link For people who don't care about...things.

Like LEGO? Play Blockland!

Second Life is the one I hear the most about, though ironically I don't actually know much about it.
Those who will remember, will speak fondly of the warm morning breeze.

I'd rather wait for Spore. bluetongue.gif If it ever comes out, that is...

Spore isn't multiplayer, to my knowledge, so we couldn't really have a faction. bluetongue.gif

Fine, if no one else wishes to try Second Life, I shall.

Well, one drawback: http://secondlife.com/whatis/plans.php, the same applies with the 13-17 version.

From what I understand of Second Life, it is a Adult Role-playing Game (and by that I mean 18+). I'll quiet from there.

I think it is, but not in an active way. Something like introducing an invasive species into the other player's world, would be fun but probably not as a place for a guild. cry.gif

Cspace, what's that problem with the quotes?

It's getting worse. eek4.gif

The unusual symbols arn't that healthy for the site, I'd say. bluetongue.gif

And as I said to you Kimo, there is a "Teen" Second Life, and you can also simply stay away from all the mature areas.

I have been generally inactive in Runescape lately as since October 2006 I have been avidly and professionally active in Second Life.

There is much going on with Second Life as it is not a game but rather is a platform of creativity and forming a new 3-D immersive shell for the internet itself. Do not underestimate Second Life, for it is a paradigm shift in computer technology.

There is much I can say here, but I will let my articles explain...

This page shows you how to get started in Second Life and even visit me at my sim with a Christian coffee house called the dokimos cafe...

http://dokimos.org/secondlife

* * *

This article talks about SL as virtual learning environment and also discusses more about the future of SL with the internet...

http://dokimos.org/s...dlife/education

* * *

This page discusses SL in regards to mature content in Second Life...

http://dokimos.org/s...experience.html

There is a link to a 10 minute video about SL at the bottom of that page. Be advised that some of the content is mature rated in the second half of the video. I recommend this video because it explains why SL is so hot now.

Contact me by sending me an IM in Second Life if you would like to ask more. My avatar ID is California Condor.

I did check it out somewhat, the game (if one would call it that) has a lot of interesting aspects that aren't really common in other programs of that sort. The game does lean toward the more mature side in various ways, but it really is quite big, and to play even the free version gives a lot of capabilities.

For anyone interested in a social-oriented game, I'd recommend that you check it out. Nuu plays it (I think), others have brought it up to me in private, and there is a bit of potential if more come. I haven't physically tried it myself, but all I hear about it is relatively positive, and the developers seem to know what they're doing.

Oh, and welcome back Dokimos thumb.gif

I really don't get second life. In a way I do, but it's hard to explain without sounding like a jerk.

I should point out that Second Life has a teen grid for those ages 13 to 17.

Many places on the web about Second Life have places with mature content.

Should Cspacezone develop a subforum for Second Life, this could be a concern.
