... *Cough* What? I -know- I told Nuu I'd post this some two weeks ago, be quiet. >>

Anyway. This topic is solely for lucid dreams and those that have them; feel free to try any of these, and post any results in your dream topic. If you'd like. bluetongue.gif 'Twould be very helpful. yes.gif

So. Quoted from Wikipedia article, these are things one can try if one is able to in a lucid dream to... well, to make sure it is, indeed, a dream. bluetongue.gif

QUOTE
  • Reading some text, looking away from the text, and reading it again - the text will probably have changed.
  • Looking at one's watch (remembering the time), looking away, and looking back. As with the text, the time will probably have changed at the second glance.
  • Flipping a light switch. Light levels rarely change in dreams.
  • Looking into a mirror; in dreams, reflections from a mirror often appear to be blurred, distorted or incorrect.
  • Plugging one's nose shut, and attempting to breathe through it. It is usually possible to breathe while doing this because the tester is not actually plugging one's nose in real life.
  • Looking at one's hands one or more times. Hands may look distorted, or grow additional fingers in a dream.
  • Gripping and stretching a finger. In a dream, body image can become distorted, and pulling a finger can elongate it.
  • Jumping into the air. Gravity is often distorted in a dream state and floating, flying or "moon jumping" will occur.
  • Looking around and seeing everything blurred, such as if you were underwater.

And, if you'd like to try to prolong a lucid dream, these are supposed to help:
  • Spinning around in the dream.
  • Rubbing your hands together, also while in the dream.

Never tried it myelf, however. I think Nuu tried one once?

As I said, it'd be quite helpful to have some feedback on these methods, if you'd like to try them, or can. ^_^

I've tried to try them, and had no success. bluetongue.gif

I'll notice things are "off," but I won't become aware I'm dreaming, if that makes any sense.
Those who will remember, will speak fondly of the warm morning breeze.

I found out that I was dreaming last night.

I was at my dad's house doing something or other then things started chasing me. I started running away from the lion down the street, then I looked behind me and it was a pack of dogs chasing me, I looked again and it was a zombie horde chasing me.

By then I realized I was dreaming, conjured up an m4a1, opened fire, and that's all I remember.

I'm typing this about 3 hours after I woke up so details are a bit fuzzy.

Edit:
QUOTE
I was having some problems with waking up to the alarm clock, passing back out, and dreaming that I was awake and carrying out my daily live like normal.
I know everyone does this but this was happening every day to me... and it was starting to seriously mess with my head in the mornings. So, I taught myself this trick, every time I wake up I concentrate on taking my right index finger and putting it through my left palm. When I'm sleeping, I tend to not really have a sense of where my body is, my own strength, pain, etc. So when I'm sleeping, my finger passes through my palm, I realize I'm dreaming, and I wake up.
Sometimes though, I end up doing that out of stupid habit in a normal dream during the night and I suddenly snap to myself dreaming, usually I end up thinking too much and wake up but a few times I ended up controlling my dreams in a weird way.

Strange, yes?

we did some things like this in my psyhology class in collage.
we kept a dream journal for a week, and then at the end of the week, we where assigned to re- dream a dream and change its outcome.

was quite cool

during the process i discovered that my dream worlds have edges. in my dreams, if i pay atention, there are areas at what are effectivly the "edge" of the "set" that the dream is in, for example, the edge of a town, or the edge of a feild in the distance, and at these edges, things fade to black. (kinda like the edge of a map in warcraft3, the terrain continues, but there is a shadow over it that deepens into total blackness after a few meters)

anyways, i noted this, and decided to re-dream a dream where i had been in disney land, (strange, i know) the dream had been pretty boring, just tooling around disney land, no weirdness. anyways, in my dreams normaly, i ignore/avoid the edges of a dream, but this time, in disney land, i found a brick wall, and knocked a big hole in it, so i could see the blackness that was the edge, and then I jumped into the blackness.
in my dream i heard the voice from 2001: A Space Odyssey say "My God! its full of stars!" and then i woke up sudenly.

yea it was weird.

that was an awsome class.

I had an unexpected lucid dream last night. I dreamt I was at the long awaited Rush concert (my favorite band). I sat in my assigned nosebleed seat, but then my parents showed up and told me I should move to the empty row mid-way back in the closest section to the stage. So, I sat there and lied to the usher that it was my seat bluetongue.gif . Then, I suddenly gained control of what I was doing in my dream. Before the concert started, I boldly walked over to Geddy Lee (the greatest living bassist IMO) and asked to take pictures with him. He obliged. We then played camera phone tag eek7.gif . I then walked over to guitarist Alex Lifeson and asked if he wanted to hang out. He said "sure" and we suddenly headed over to the restroom where he had "chores" to do. I was sort of confused, but we mopped the floors regardless bluetongue.gif . I had a good conversation with him and then reminded him that we'd better get back before the concert started. We got back just in time! I then found my best friend, who was not there at the beginning of the dream. He asked me what I was doing, and I told him I met everyone but Neil Peart (the drummer). I then reassured the usher that the closer seats were mine. I woke up shortly after bluetongue.gif .
