Let's play Mafia! Before you ask, I'll try to explain the game as best I can (good luck).
This version of Mafia is played by two teams:
  1. The Mafia whose goal is to kill all citizens through a murder (explained below). The Mafia starts with less players, but the members are told immediately who else is a member and thus who are citizens.
  2. The Citizens' goal is to kill every Mafia member via executions (also explained below). They start with more players, but citizens are not informed who else is a citizen. There is also a special citizen:
  3. The Night Owl who is stuck with that name until I can think of a better one. The night owl is given hints about Mafia members, being role played as if he happened to be in the area.
All members, citizens, and the night owl positions are chosen randomly.

Now for the fun part, the killing:
  • Murdersoccur at "Night"* by the Mafia. The person has to be chosen in secret or all the members would be revealed. Since Cspace is evil and won't give me a password protected forum, I guess private message, MSN, or whatever will have to do. Once members have decided who kill, they are to private message my alt the name of that person. Each member needs to do this so I don't get caught up in a fight because someone lied that they were speaking on everyone's behalf. Well, Cspace gave me a forum for the Mafia so the Mafia members will have an easier time communicating. So just discuss in the forum instead of PM, MSN, etc. I'll still need every members' consent before I declare the dead, but now I'll just have a topic asking everyone. Only one murder can occur at a time.
  • Executions occur during the "Day."* Before the execution, everyone (citizens and members) accuse and debate openly. Then everyone votes. The voted person is killed and the alliance of the dead is then revealed. There is only one execution at a time.
The Game Mod
The game mod is your friend. Well, not really. The game mod is neutral and is as much a friend of yours as he is your enemy's. The game mod keeps things running by announcing deaths, giving hints to the night owl, announcing alignments of those executed, talking, and anything else that needs to be done.

Winning: As said above, the goal is to kill everyone on the opposing side. For those curious, it's a team win so dead players can still win if their team does.

Well, first of all, your position is assigned at random, like everyone's. grnwink.gif

You can make a name/job/house/etc if you want, but it's not really needed for anything. grnwacko.gif

Also, there better be a heckalotta (puzzle that out for yourself bluetongue.gif ) more citizens than Mafia people, because each day, the citizens could be doing the job for the Mafia and killing themselves off, and each night, the Mafia will -always- kill a citizen. The citizens could potentially die twice as fast as the Mafia could ever do bluetongue.gif ... Alternatively, the hints to the Night Owl(s?) better be pretty durn good XD

Hmm.. I wonder what the 'clues' are meant to be like.

Clues to things in the mafia persons profile or anything about them? Hmm... Could be interesting.

"Night" is just the period the Mafia kills, it doesn't have any particular relation to real time. Same with "Day" with the citizens. They're supposed to be, but it isn't possible with timezones without being really complicated. And I don't think that was clear.

Simplified: Night is how long it takes for the Mafia to murder someone. Day is how long it takes the citizens to execute someone. Night and Day can't overlap. Does that make sense?
