This is probably going to be rather one-sided (bluetongue.gif), but do you think console and computer games are good or bad? Why? You can discuss social topics, physical (health) topics, or anything else you consider important.

I heartily concur with and endorse Rat's statement. However it seems immediately clear that if as a world we are to meet carbon emission goals, it is necessary for developed nations to take the first step in the reduction of Video Games are Bad for you. production.

It took me a tad bit too long to realise that you had used the essay generator that we discovered ages ago. In all fairness, I hadn't scrolled down far enough to see the dead giveaway graph.

Anyway, videogames are value-neutral, in much the same way that a rock is neither good nor bad. They are just things. PEOPLE are good or bad.

A specific argument that deals with the more fantasy focused games.

"If fantasy video games are bad, then by relation, so are any book, movie, play, or any other form of culture that involves fantasy is bad as well."

Sometimes violence is taken too far, yes. But games can easily be related to books and movies. Even games of different genres.

Action
Puzzle
RolePlaying
Fantasy
War
Shooter
Suspense/Horror
Sim

Can all be switched to movie/book categories.

No. They aren't bad as long as the violence isn't portrayed as endlessly mindless. Some games just don't need to be made. But others are just a form of culture and entertainment.
Overwhelmed as one would be, placed in my position.
Such a heavy burden now to be "The One".
Born to bear and read to all the details of our ending
To write it down for all the world to see.

The only problem I see with games is the possibility of being addicted. This certainly isn't a new problem, but it also isn't a myth. It's very easy to become addicted to a game, especially MMOs. I myself believe I was addicted to gaming for a year or so. The only solution to the problem is to watch your own gaming habits, and seek help if needed.

A mental addiction to games can hurt you physically as well. I permanently damaged my already bad eyesight by playing 8+ hours per day, every day, for over a year. About three of those hours were in the dark. I now can't play any type of fast-paced game, like an FPS. I also can't stay at a PC for too long or watch video clips with a lot of movement. My eyes begin to throb and I become dizzy. If I play for a certain amount of time I'll get a migraine. Learn from my mistake. Find another hobby to split your free time with gaming.
