Of these, and knowing that you'll be able to master a few on one character, what sounds most appealing? How would you envision your character, both from a roleplaying perspective as well as a tactical one?

You won't be limited to one character, but if you were, what sounds the best to you? thumb.gif

I like my characters to take leadership roles, so the Convoker class is appealing to me. Having an army of minions attack at my discretion is a lovely prerogative. I'm also interested in more of a loner, assassin-type character. Even though being in a team will be a big part of my strategy, I wouldn't mind taking one character away from the others and reek havoc with it. Maybe a solo-buff could be added? Or better yet, the GM could make weaker monsters. bluetongue.gif

Hmm, I dunno. That's a hard question, considering how many there are to choose from bluetongue.gif Let's see... This'll probably be a rather analytic post of mine, at least as far as my mind can go with analysis (which isn't much), and considering that the whole thing will be based off odd opinions of mine... But through it, we (or I ShiftyEyes_anim.gif ) shall decide which class I like the most! So you really don't need to read any of this. If you don't give a poop about my strange way of deciding what I like most, skip to the multi-colored 'Verdict:' near the bottom of the post... Suave_anim.gif

So, the ones that I like!

Scion!
As a warrior with an affinity for the arcane, you can weave the greater forces of the universe into your combat. Augmenting your own equipment with the elements and other forces of the universe, you possess a great amount of versatility in battle.
* Searing Knight
o Fire knight
* Frost Knight
o Ice knight
* Storm Knight
o Wind/Lightning knight
* Planar Knight
o Cosmic knight

... You gotta admit (or.. I gotta, since I don't believe anyone else is reading this ShiftyEyes_anim.gif ), that sounds pretty darned cool. Now, the Scion class tree thing hasn't been finished (or uploaded, at least, since on the main tree page thing Scion has no link bluetongue.gif ), so it's possible one's imagination makes it better than it actually is. To quote one of my favorite book series...

QUOTE(The Fires of Heaven, Book Five of the Wheel of Time series)
"If you don't talk," Nynaeve told her, scowling, "I'll let Juilin have you. He's a Tairen thief-catcher, and he knows how to bring out a confession as quickly as any Whitecloak Questioner. Don't you, Juilin?"

"Some rope to tie her," he said, grinning a grin so villainous that Elayne almost tried to step away from him, "some rags to gag her until she is ready to talk, some cooking oil and salt..." His chuckle curdled Elayne's blood. "She will talk." Mistress Macura held herself rigidly against the wall, staring at him, eyes as wide as they would go. Luci looked at him as if he had just turned into a Trolloc, eight feet tall and complete with horns.

"Very well," Nynaeve said after a moment. "you should find everything you need in the kitchen, Juilin." Elayne shifted a startled look from her to the thief-catcher and back. Surely they did not really mean to...? Not Nynaeve!

"Narenwin Barda," the seamstress gasped suddenly. Words tripped over one another spilling out of her. "I send my reports to Narenwin Barda, at an inn in Tar Valon called The Upriver Run."

. . .

Nynaeve made Thom help her closer, where she could stare down at the seamstress. "And the message? The real message? You did not put that signal out in the hope of luring us in."

"I gave you the real message," the woman said wearily. "I did not think it could do any harm. I don't understand it, and I-- please--" Suddenly she was sobbing, clinging to Luci as hard as the younger woman did to her, both of them wailing and babbling. "Please, don't let him use the salt on me! Not the salt! Oh, please!"

"Tie them up," Nynaeve said disgustedly after a moment, "and we will go downstairs where we can talk." Thom helped her sit on the edge of the nearest bed, then quickly cut strips from the other coverlet.

. . .

"Juilin," [Elayne] asked hesitantly, "what were you going to do with the salt and cooking oil? Not exactly," she added more quickly. "Just the general idea."

"He looked at her for a moment. "I do not know. But they did not, either. That is the trick of it; their minds made up worse than I ever could. I have seen a tough man break when I sent for a basket of figs and some mice. You have to be careful, though. Some will confess anything, true or not, just to escape what they imagine. I do not think those two did, though."

She did not either. She could not repress a shiver, however. What would somebody do with figs and mice? She hoped she stopped wondering before she gave herself nightmares.

Imagination can definitely make something seem better (or worse) than it really is bluetongue.gif But augmenting your equipment with fire and being a 'Fire Knight' or a 'Ice Knight' or something sounds t3h pwn bluetongue.gif

Demonicist!
# You're an enslaver of souls. You can control the tortured spirits of the dead, and of course the unlucky spirits of the living...

* Demomancer
o Caller of spirits (new type of “pet”)
* Coercer
o Coercion abilities (strongest)
* Enslaver
o Coercion of souls (creates a spirit “pet” from an enemy)
* Defiler
o Destruction of spirits/souls

Eh, I guess this one is a bit more into my darker side, the side that got me to join the Dark Brotherhood in Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and go around murdering people for money bluetongue.gif Which sometimes actually did make my feel guilty, when the person I was murdering seemed really nice and innocent and stuff... Even though it was just a game... ^o)

Anyway! Mostly the 'Enslaver' one sounds cool. *enslaves a fallen Neraphym* ShiftyEyes_anim.gif

Druid!
[/i]You respect all the forces of nature, and are capable of controlling both the forces of nature's refuge as well as those of nature's reckoning. You also have an affinity with the forces of air and fire.

* Storm Warden
o Storm spells
* Force of Nature
o Nature’s reckoning (fighter/spellcaster hybrid concentration)
* Conflagrator
o Fire spells
* Sanctuar
o Nature’s refuge[/i]

I had originally thought it was a Geomancer that had fire spells, but apparently, it is really the druid XD I only really like this class because of the 'Conflagrator' and its fire spells, a thought which is partially fed by Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion as well. See, in Oblivion, when you cast a fireballish spell at someone, if the blast is strong enough to kill them with the health they have left, they will be blasted backwards, and it gives me some strange delight and it's -really- cool XD ... Though I have been known to favor the fire element before, like playing Vuurin Firerider, the God of Fire on my roleplay site... ShiftyEyes_anim.gif ...But really, you they -fly backwards-! ^^

Arcanist!
You're a master of time and space. From being able to manipulate the flow of time, alter the fabric of space around you, and create objects that should not exist, you can come out on top of almost any situation when given the opportunity.

* Connectionist
o Short-range time traveler
* Alterator
o Space-altering spells
* Cosmologist
o Space-evocating spells
* Perceiver
o Time-independent stances

Yay for time travel! And.. time.. altering... o.O Indeed. And isn't a 'cosmologist' like... one of those people who do manicures and stuff? XD Or something like that? Anyway! Changing time around is t3h pwn. Who -wouldn't- like messing with time for one's own advantage? Suave_anim.gif

Bounty Hunter!
You know how to stay in the shadows, and when the time is right, trap and eliminate your mark. It's your contract, nothing personal.

* Headhunter
o Tracker of bounties
* Assassin
o Elimination of bounties (solo)
* Mercenary
o Elimination of bounties (group)
* Hitman/Hitwoman
o Retaliation for bounties

Again, the strange Dark Brotherhood assassin guy comes out. Killing people from the shadows is kinda cool bluetongue.gif Makes one feel stealthy, sneaking past scores of security and swooping in for the kill, and then moving out again without detection. Imagine the surprise when the victim is found dead in their chambers, middle of a castle, surrounded by loyal guards. But who could have done it? ... It must have been suicide! After all... No assassin could never have entered the room... right? ShiftyEyes_anim.gif

But there was this one really fun Dark Brotherhood quest that didn't make me feel guilty at all because the target was this old retired Imperial Officer guy, so he didn't seem all sweet and innocent bluetongue.gif So he was retired... And I was supposed to shoot him with a single arrow, which was poisoned so it would ensure his death if he wasn't wearing armor when shot, called the 'Rose of Sithis'. Shooting him with the arrow was meant to send a message to other Imperials, so they knew not to interfere with the Dark Brotherhood, as this officer had done. So he went for a swim once, in the middle of a city, I shot him with the arrow, and then killed his bodyguard. I then had to take his finger, which had the signet ring of his noble house or something. Then I snuck back the the Imperial city, into the guards quarters, and I placed the finger with the ring still on it in the officer's predecessor's desk, which would further the message that the Dark Brotherhood was to be left alone bluetongue.gif It was quite a fun quest, perhaps because of the indepthness of the fear that it would cause XD But yay for murder! (In games!)

All right. PHASE TWO! I have chosen five different classes I like. I shall now commence the elimination of... two classes!

Hmm... Yes.... Hmhmm... Mhmyes... Yesmmm.... Hmm...

Demonicist is eliminated.

Yes... Interesting... Yes... Mmm... Hmmm...... Mhmmm.....

A tie between Arcanist and Bounty Hunter! They are both eliminated!

... PHASE THREE! I shall now eliminate one more.

Hmmmmmmmmm.... Yesss.... Mhmmm.... Yeeesss.... Hmm....

Scion is eliminated!

Verdict:

I have chosen I would probably like to be the Druid the most. But the Scion was close! But it is the Druid, only because the Druid has fire spells XD

ShiftyEyes_anim.gif Really, I don't plan to make -all- of my quests hard! bluetongue.gif In fact, in the future, the majority of my quests will probably be completely roleplayed XD

But really, having a challenging quest isn't all that bad, is it? bluetongue.gif

Challenge is the only way I have fun with Darkstorm.

For me, it's all about the monk, though. The vision of a huge battle going on between two people with equally gaudy SUPAR PHAT LEWTS armor on is less appealing than one in which a simply dressed person breaks your life with his bear hands. And feet.

Thanks a lot for the feedback, it's important for me to know what everyone has in mind for the classes before they're finalized. They have to be entertaining for you, not me, so it's good to know everyone's ideas for what will make their favorite classes better.

Nah. biglaugh.gif Cosmology is a field of science that deals with the origin and structure of the universe. The name was just a placeholder for something better, because I couldn't think of something good at the time. bluetongue.gif

Cosmologist changed to Archon when I put some of the tree up, which makes more sense and hopefully sounds better. thumb.gif

...

......hah.......the url has 69. biglaugh.gif

Anyways, I love the Bounty Hunter thing, it's one of favorite things to be in most RPGs bluetongue.gif

For the normal tech tree, I like having a minion or something that I can work with, and Beast Handler seems interesting

Maybe a Bounty Hunter/Beast Handler Hybrid......weird...both have the "B.H." initials....

I talk to myself too much arcadefreak.gif
