We're going to need to promote SeeD, because recruiting is really our biggest need right now. "Be more active" isn't a solution to an activity problem. bluetongue.gif Let's follow the path that we already know works, and the path that allowed us to succeed in the first place. Our first goal would need to revolve around recruiting, to bring the activity to us. The illusion of activity that many want won't do the trick, so let's be the real thing again. Our original goal in 2001 was 64 members... Nothing more complicated than that. 150 members, right now, is probably as difficult as 64 was back then. We have members, support, and a site... None of which existed when we first began. Let's be fair to ourselves and not underestimate what we can do... bluetongue.gif

There are three things we must do relating to activity. Three fronts, if you will... This is the calling for anyone who wants to help SeeD. This isn't a time to stand by and watch, because if our clan is to succeed, our clan needs to get moving really soon. Now, actually. The longer we wait, the more difficult it's going to be.

------------------------------------------------

Promotion Right Here

Be optimistic, and be ourselves. Show off SeeD in your signature (yeah, on our own site bluetongue.gif), welcome everybody, and don't be elitist. A clan that is as big as we once were has the luxury to just invite those they know, but one trying to grow like we are today cannot be overly selective. We need everybody who is interested in our clan, so please try to contact the new SeeDs in-game and do some stuff with them.

Growth has no purpose if SeeDs only associate with those they already know. First impressions are important, but don't assume everything about a member from his/her first post. Hehe... Just look at the first post for those you already know. I'm sure it doesn't sound like them.

Introductions are awkward! Don't expect a new SeeD to dig his/her own way into SeeD... So help him/her find the way, both on the site and in-game. thumb.gif

------------------------------------------------

Promotion In-Game

Tell those you know in RS about SeeD: Those on your friend list, those you know in reality, and those in the area who seem to be seeking a clan. That's the easiest way to promote from the game.

If you want to take it to the next level, throw our clan's name around as you play. Say that "Clan SeeD is selling lobsters" instead of "Selling lobsters"... Send a descriptive message out relating to SeeD now and then... And if an opportunity comes up to promote your clan, take it. We're member-led, anyone has the power to do this stuff.

Then if you really want to help, consolidate your promotion in-game with your promotion right here. Start a shop or "mercenary team"... Or get creative with something else. Seriously, you're capable of starting your own stuff like that.

------------------------------------------------

Promotion On Other Communities

This probably takes the most effort, but it's really not that hard, and most definitely 100% awesome for us. Use a "default" promotional message if you want, or feel free to come up with your own. Here are some pointers to succeed with this...

- Keep your thread alive. Talk with those who reply, and try to get other SeeDs to endorse their clan.

- Be true to SeeD. Don't sound elitist and attempt to attract the same players that 99% of clans are seeking. The majority of active players want an "ownage war clan", and almost every clan wants those players. The minority doesn't have many alternatives, and even though they're a smaller percentage, they're a huge number of players. That's why UFF got so big... They appeal to an ignored minority, while everyone else dwells on an estimated majority. Even 5% seems a little low for those who aren't seeking an "ownage" clan, but 5% of a huge number is a huge number. thumb.gif I'm not saying to be like UFF, but I'm just making a point that many of us will probably understand.

- Be true to our situation, and don't put down your clan. We started in 2001, and later expanded into other games. We lost interest in Runescape, but some of us are bringing back the clan that we once had. Everyone is welcome, just as before. We're casual, and members do what they want within reason. Don't label us as a "PKing clan" or a "skill clan", because the polarization won't do us justice. We used to call ourselves an "everything clan" back when clans tried to be unique. Play to our advantage, which is versatility, friendliness, and uniqueness. Don't conform. indifferent.gif

- Use a title that mentions, somehow, that we started in 2001. That's 100% true and would be good to use for marketing. Advertising is all about catching people's attention.

------------------------------------------------

Want to help SeeD?
- This is how.

Want Tier Promotions?
- This is an easy way to get them...

We need to do it though. That includes you, just as it includes me, as it also includes everyone else. This is our calling, our time to take back our clan and be ourselves once again. To grow and succeed, and to leave the activity problems behind for a long time. Someone needs to start the momentum.

As with before, if you hadn't noticed... I'm trying to spark member-leadership. That's how we succeeded before, with many organizing their own plans to contribute to our overall goals. That's SeeD. That's how we were, so if you want good times to return, be the embodiment of such a change. Inspire yourself and others to build a better SeeD. When the mission is accomplished and the dust settles, you'll see what I mean when I say that SeeD is your clan.

So please reply if you're with us... Discuss plans if you wish, or simply say that you're here. Your support will be greatly welcomed. Missions will come soon to help guide us, but we need to start supporting ourselves again.

This drive for recruiting comes for me at a time of indecisiveness. I'm not really having fun with any of the games I play right now unless I have friends to go have fun with. That means that the only time I advance my character in these games is when I can do that with friends, and I can only do that with friends if my character is advanced. I'm caught in a bit of a conundrum.

But the revitalization of my own site for its own purposes seems close at hand, and rest assured that there will by a SeeD banner flying proudly.

This really is a great community, something that I happened upon by chance, and one that has had quite a positive impact on my life. So when SeeD asks for a little bit out of me, I am more than happy to give my support, I'm honored. Organization of events on my part seems unlikely, because I don't know what people do in Runescape or WoW or GunZ anymore, but rest assured that I'll attend any event that I can. Anyone got ideas? If people see that we're having fun, they'll want in!

EDIT:

I recall, several years ago, back when RS2 newborn, we had a massive scale event for seeds that involved races, combat, mining, a run through melzar's maze, etc. I believe that that was the best event ever hosted in our clan. Things like that are, I believe, what we need to do. Having intuitive fun in a game in a way that does not require a high player level, in order to include as many players as possible. When we're out doing these events, we'll be noticed. Something like that takes a lot of planning, but would be more than worth it. I'm quite happy to help plan, organize, and fund prizes for such events.

I'll give this a shot. ^_^ I'd be happy to help, and there might be some other RS communities I can tell about SeeD.

Recruitment Threads

I'm still bumping them whenever I remember (every other day or so :O) but they are only posted in a few RS communities. There are loads more to post in :O!

Make sure hen you post a topic in another community, to add it to the list so other people can bump them too.

I'd suggest using CurvedSpace instead of SeeD. It's not our official name, but we have a much higher Google ranking withCurvedSpace than SeeD. bluetongue.gif

Don't conform. indifferent.gif

Yes, sir.

Anyway, I guess I have to support this since I'm a general and everything.

This is really big... Seriously. We can pull this off if we all want the same thing. I know I keep saying this, but it's really not hopeless.

Hm, true, Google is our friend right now. Both "CurvedSpace" and "Arbiters' Order" are safe.

CurvedSpace is probably the safest though, because "CurvedSpace" is the first thing that comes up when someone arrives. If someone comes here looking for SeeD or the Arbiters' Order, it's not as obvious that they found the right place. That's not the case when promoting SeeD on other communities, but when we get interest within Runescape itself.
