You can be creative with it, but here are some tips for in-game recruiting...

- Don't recruit without giving a proper description. A bad message to send around is "Contact me to join SeeD!", unless at an event, when people will see who we are anyway. The reason is that everyone could potentially be interested, but everyone may not fit into our clan. It's just a bumpy way to do it, but not the end of the world. There are better ways, which follow...

- You can openly recruit if you use a proper description. If your description is good, and would not be appealing to elitists, then it will be as effective as a recruitment thread at only reaching those we want to reach. This can even be true if you talk about SeeD in the open, trying to draw interest from random players in the area. Don't worry about the consequences, because they are minor in the long run.

- Don't give our URL, because it's currently against the rules to say a URL in the game. Instead call our guild the "Arbiters' Order", and say that it's within the gaming community "CurvedSpace". We're at the top in Google under both names. Searching for "SeeD" is a lost cause. We can tell them about SeeD once they're here.

- I'd recommend sending messages in the open, instead of in private. If you feel comfortable sending private messages, though, they will work as well... It's up to you.

- Tell anyone who is interested to join our clan chat. If you keep recruiting, players will show up gradually, and you can have some fun with it by doing something spontaneous (like PKing or a party). It could also provide a better first-impression if they join the chat along with other new recruits.

- Have fun with it. Joke with players, make a scene, or do something so you're not boring yourself or others. Maybe even do it while crafting stuff, at least if you're crafting in a populated area.

Hope this helps... Again, don't worry about the consequences of recruiting. Any recruiting helps at this point, and you'll figure out what grabs the right interest. Any issues caused by recruiting will be solved as we become more active. It's nothing painful, please trust me with that... I mean, open recruiting is what we did in the beginning. bluetongue.gif Once we have some good numbers again, we can stop with that and then focus on more selective means, but not before activity problems are behind us.
