Too many of us think it's impossible to revive SeeD. There is a major misconception about SeeD from most who want our clan to become more active. We aren't the typical clan... We thrive when members organize things and take matters into their own hands. While the leaders could organize what they find important, it may not include everything that the members want to do. If the members take the initiative, however, everything they want would be taken care of. We would do what the majority wants, and at the same time we would also do what fewer members want and what would otherwise be ignored.

We could realistically be an "everything clan", which is what we used to call ourselves. The idea worked, and it's really easy to pull this off if only everyone understood its importance to our clan.

  • Recruiting has a MUCH GREATER impact if everyone makes small contributions, than it would if only a few members make large contributions.
  • The basics all need to be taken care of by each member. Easy things like joining the chat (and remaining on the chat even if it's empty) and contacting new recruits would make a large impact if everyone does them. It's easy to think they're individually pointless, but they really aren't. They need to be taken care of, especially while we're in such great need for new members.
  • We need to lose the inward mindset that we had in 2003 and 2004. We can't logically grow by selective recruiting alone, like a larger clan can do (and as we got used to a few years ago). Open recruiting doesn't mean sending "Want to join a clan?" to everyone, but it is GOOD to send descriptive messages around that would be turn-offs for elitists. How is "open recruiting" different from posting on a RS site about us? Both reach "random" players. It's all in the description, and the same thing can be accomplished in-game with the right words...
  • We really need to contact our new members in-game (those who recently joined). Please try to do stuff with them. Recruiting doesn't work if we don't do anything with new recruits. We haven't been contacting them, and that desperately needs to change... I don't know when this started, but we just automatically did it in 2001 when we wanted to grow. We didn't even say it, our members wanted to do it. How many of our old members felt included? How many of our new members feel included? That's an important thing to think about.

IT WILL GET EASIER, but it will take a little focusing right now. Starting with only three members, no website, and little clan experience, it only took a month to make SeeD active. It will be much easier to do the same thing today. We need to make goals to increase our numbers, and not worry about the consequences of recruiting. That's the only way activity can increase in the longterm... Not by pushing members to play more than they want, but by finding activity and bringing it to us. Then SeeD will be a better clan for everybody involved.

Take note of the results of my recent poll, think about what I'm saying here, and please help in your own way if you want SeeD to come back. It will be easy if we truly want activity, and if we're optimistic about our capabilities.

It's gotten to the point that if we revive our great clan, you will be considered one of our few second founders... Think about that, because it's true. You can be one of the heroes of our clan, making an even greater future possible once again.

... And lastly, please reply. We need to do this once and for all, and not over five or six PM conversations. icon_sweatdrop.gif

At the moment, a few newcomers are drifting in slowly, and even a few are sticking around, even if not seen on the forums. Greencaleb for example activally plays RS, and likes to know whats going on. These members are gonna help build the future of SeeD, but if we don't stay active in game, then they will soon leave.

I still update those recruitment threads whenever I'm on the right computer, and they do work. As far as I know, the few member who have joined recently have heard of SeeD through a recruitment thread. However, the current recruitment threads are only on a few forums, try and find more and post the link in the recruitment topic (in this forum) so I can add it.

I also think that our Recruitment topic is a little long winding and complicated for some peoples brains ShiftyEyes_anim.gif. So I might make a more up to date one when I have time XD Ooo busy Charlie :O

That's right, and to add onto it, "active" doesn't just mean that SeeDs should play the game. It's broad and includes everything members should do as part of a clan, but it doesn't mean that one should play the game more than he/she would otherwise want (one wouldn't have to if we all did our part). You'll find that if the clan is fun, however, you will most likely want to play the game more. It makes things more worthwhile when spontaneous stuff is always going on.

That's awesome. It really does help, as with in-game recruitment. Everyone should appreciate it when a member goes out of his/her way to actually find new members. They are the ones who are solving SeeD's problems, and in the future will be remembered as the ones who brought SeeD back to life.

However, along with posting a reply to Charlee's thread, go ahead and post a thread whenever you make an attempt at recruiting. It'll get more attention, and it'll be obvious that it's current.

Indeed, it is a little out-dated also. It was geared toward recruiting back while we were bigger, while now our focus should more be to find ambitious recruits who will help to build our once great clan back into something major.

It may be better to improvise at this point and not use an official thread. When we start moving again, things will change and any official threads we create now will be out of date just like our current one. Then when we're stable, we can come up with something new that will last for at least a while.

This reminds me I need to update the clan chat list-thing. I've yet to add some of our members. School's been running me ragged to the point I haven't even been able to play RuneScape long enough to update. :/

Pinned in the Wayfarer's Tavern thumb.gif

If you mean the one where members link their actual recruiting attempts, to get support from SeeD, it would be better to post a new thread rather than a reply. Members will know that it's new without having to keep up with a less obvious thread.

In order for us to give them interest, we need to show them around SeeD. We need to make them feel comfortable about their appearances in SeeD so they won't be at the breaking point of leaving SeeD. Like me for expample, I didn't feel comfortable with my first time in here. But because people showed me around SeeD, I feel more couraged and SeeD-able. People showing me around SeeD is what made me stay here, and I feel showing the newcomers around will let them stay as well.
