I recently found out about a program called Gimp. It's basically Adobe Photoshop, but free and just as easy to use. I myself have over 2 years of photoshop and flash work. I would recommend for those who DONT want to pay 50$ for Adobe PS, to get Gimp.
Google and find out more!
Just thought I would possibly answer someone's question out there, afterall someone did the same for me.

Quite a few people use GIMP here, ie. me and Xmadole.

I use GIMP, I actually prefer it's interface over adobe photoshop (also runs easier on my linux lappy.. no having to configure WINE + It sorta fits in better in the GNOME interface 
) .. Only downside is it's really a pain to figure it out when you're new & it's hard to replicate some PS effects at times...

Usually we try and not bump topics that are older then a week or two (or three
).And yes, I find The GIMP tends to run better then Adobe Photoshop on Linux (or any Laptop, really).
