Okay guys, so here's the story.

Myself and the rest of the HighL4Nders have been planning this massive as hell LAN party to coincide with the release of Halo 3. Only now at Thanksgiving break have we been able to do so, and we were going to try to make a bit of money off of it. Originally, we were going to charge a rather hefty sum of money to enter and have a cash prize that rounded near $400 for the winnar.

Well, turns out, power limits on the recreation room I'm holding this in won't allow that many people for two days worth of time. So until I can save up and afford a freaking 100amp breaker switch to run 50 360s and TVs simultaneously, here's what I've done.

I've contacted the people at Child's Play and gotten the information I need to know. At the present time, I'm not scheduled to organize roughly an 80 person LAN (With 20 systems max with 4 per system) at $10 per person. We've agreed that every last cent of proceeds will be donated to Child's Play, or more specifically, the Children's Hospital of New Orleans (In New Orleans. Dur.)

We're spreading the word and putting fliers up around school. If people come not to game, they can come chill and watch the competition at the same time. In the end, if we max out at 80 people, that's a rough $800. It's not loads, I know, but I've always wanted to be involved with Child's Play. This is something that is really going to get us out there.

I'm really pumped about this. I think I'm going to grow my beard out and bend steel rafters at the same time.

Is this awesome? (Y/N?)

Y

Great idea, should be a lot of fun and you'll get a warm fuzzy feeling for helping such a great charity. $800 might not seem like a lot compared with the amount Child's Play brings in, but it's enough to really make a difference to quite a few kids. And you get to play Halo 3. bluetongue.gif

So, how do you plan on attracting 80 people?

Word of mouth, of course. Our school has WELL over 2,000 students, more than 3/4ths of which are highly involved in any sort of 'gaming' generalizations or whatever you want to call it.
More than 80 will surely hear, and of those will surely show up. Especially after they hear about revisions and stuff that has been made on the former plans.

It's very possible.

3/4? As in 3 out of 4 people? Meaning 75%?

Really?

My school might have about 80 people that might go to a lan total.
And maybe 1k students.

My old one might have 80 people who would even know what one is, and about 2k students.

Okay, so we're down to the wire I guess now. This thing is supposed to be happening in...
*Maths*
About 10 hours. I'm a bit nervous, because I'm not completely sure how many people are going to show up. Since we made this openly public, a lot of stuff has gone down, and I'm feeling a bit apprehensive about the entire thing.

Ah, well... It can only go one of two ways. I'm hoping it goes the better.
Wish me luck, fellas. =/
