Well, it happened and everything. Not nearly the turnout as expected, but a great time was had by all. Valerie even came by to hang around with us while we all Halo'd it up. She was my cheerleader when I was playing, as was Nox's girlfriend to him. ._.
All in all, a great time was had. Though we didn't get a massive amount of money, we were able to raise roughly $200. As it stands, it's not a fortune, but it's a start. I even have people coming up to me two days after asking to make donations. It's awesome.
Only problem was one guy showed up that nobody wanted there. Never played Halo in his life and quite honestly doesn't know how to be a well-functioning member of society. Had the mentality of a 5 year old. Every time he'd camp and snag someone with a Sp'laser, he'd laugh 'till he cried and never shut up about 'owning us in the {expletive antidisestablishmentarianized by Cspace}.' Finally, I decked him in the gut so he'd shut up.
He didn't.
The night ended at 10:00. Through the day we had an unorganized tournament between about 10 people. I came in third (After tying three matches) and get to say "I came in third place." Valerie's brother let us use his Wii to play GH3 on some separate TVs, and some folks jammed out to that.
Nox's girlfriend took a good few pictures and will be plastering them all over MySpace so I can steal them and post them here.
All in all, it was a good run for a first try at this. I can't wait until the next one we have.
Two and a half claps.
Overwhelmed as one would be, placed in my position.
Such a heavy burden now to be "The One".
Born to bear and read to all the details of our ending
To write it down for all the world to see.
