Doesnt turning down the volume when your listening to Slipknot kinda defeat the purpose?

as far as my amp goes, i have studio-grade headphones so im set.

your music is too loud when: your little brother can tell what song your playing on your ipod when hes in the room next to yours.

your music is too loud when your parents complain about the noise of your mp3 player and you're living on the second floor.

I'm a loud headphone listener too, but I at least keep it well below the threshold of pain. The main reason I have them up so loud is so the bass instruments are clearly heard in the mix.

I need to learn how to not listen in the threshold of pain. However All That Remains's "Chiron" is particularly awesome at 11.

Music is too loud when you can no longer hear it because you're bleeding out your ears and are now unable to hear ever again.
