Try to figure out the logic behind a pattern. If you get it, you post a new one. thumb.gif

The pattern could involve numbers, letters, or whatever else. It should make sense and be unusual or somewhat difficult... But don't make something ridiculous. bluetongue.gif There's no fun with figuring out a pattern that has a formula like ((x + 5) ^ (2 * log(5 * x)) - 1000). eek13.gif

***************************

Here's one to start...
  • 1, 3, 5, 4
  • 2, 3, 5, 4
  • 3, 5, 4
  • 4
  • 5, 4
  • 6, 3, 5, 4
  • 7, 5, 4
  • 8, 5, 4
  • 9, 4
  • 10, 3, 5, 4
  • 11, 6, 3, 5, 4
(Going on infinitely)

The pattern makes the letter E.

bluetongue.gif

Nah, I looked at this briefly before, and I can honestly say I am not sure. Not a simple arithmetic forumla, so it's some recursive forumla probably. Or I just overlooked something, seeing as it's all guess and check in my head.

Overall though, interesting thread. thumb.gif

Aye, you've got me stumped too.

Only pattern i've managed to find is that the first number increments, there's a 5 in all BUT the squares, and the squares have previous square numbers in it. =P No idea what other rules there are =P

Nah, the next to reply can do another. bluetongue.gif

***********************

The solution to the first...

Count the number of letters used to spell the first number. That becomes the next number, and it goes until the number equals the number of letters in its own word (4).

This is probably the only chance I'll get.
5, 7, 11, 13, 23, 27, 35, 39, 45, 59, 63, 75, 83, 87, 107, 119, 123, 135, 143, 147.
(I hope I did that right)

*Pokes everyone*

Do you mind if I take over? I really liked this thread (Thanks to Cspaces' one, really), so I wanna bump it and keep it alive.

What are the next two letters? And what is the pattern.

A, A, B, C, E, H, ..., ...

A, A, B, C, E, H, M,U

Unless I counted incorrectly that should be right. bluetongue.gif

General Pattern is based off the simple additon problem:
(0),1,1,2,3,5,etc.

You sum the last two numbers to make the next number in the pattern, only this is then converted into the number associated with where the letter falls in the Alphabet.
