What's CoH Like?

Oh wow.
Well let's see. It's not your average MMORPG. There is no 'equipment', there is no armor, or weapons, or stuff like that. You only get skills and enhancement slots to make your skills more powerful.
I won't talk about character customization. I've spoken about that once, and people have heard me. I want the other two people that tried it to tell about it and how expansive it is.
That runs from costume selection (WOW) to selecting what powers or skills your character will specialize in. Defending, tanking, damage, range attacks, or buff/debuff.
The game itself, really focuses on teamwork. It's VERY difficult to do things solo unless you know exactly what you're doing, and even then, it'll take forever to level.
Sad part of it is, the game does require a fair amount of time. It's difficult for me to log on during school weeks because it's hard to get stuff done in a short amount of time.
I joined a while back, fell out of interest, and now I'm back in it with not so much addiction as enthusiasm. I really like it and prefer it over most other games. The RP community on the server I play on is nice, and really gets your mind working to think of stories behind your character. Anything is accepted, and people will usually go right along with whatever you come up with.

Overwhelmed as one would be, placed in my position.
Such a heavy burden now to be "The One".
Born to bear and read to all the details of our ending
To write it down for all the world to see.

I definitely don't have enough time for a new game, but Res asked me if I'd like to try it (10 days free) and I wandered around on it for awhile. I really want to fly
Random picture so you can get an idea. Remember that I can only run the game on the lowest detail possible, and it still only lasts 4-5 minutes until it crashes, so I would definitely recommend the game, but only if you have the specs for it >.<
And yes, that's a kitten on my shoulder XD *d'aw..*

As one who is on a trial of it this week, I'm being forced to add my opinion to this as well, apparently.
Character customisation.
There are loads of options, loads. Loooads.
First off, you choose what 'Archtype' you're going to be out of five possible ones.
Your Origin is what background your abilities come from, doesn't effect them at all, it's mostly for Character Background if you're into Roleplay. Are you a Science experiment gone wrong? Are your abilities a mutation from birth? Technology wizz? Are they magical? Or are they just natural, having spent most of your life training.
Then, once you've chosen those, you pick a Primary Ability set, which will be your main set from which to get your abilities from. Tanks will get their defensive skills, Blasters get their long-range attacks, etc. Each set will vary slightly from each other (Fire Tanks will have more defenses against Fire, obviously, while Ice Tanks.. y'know), and are otherwise unique from other Archtype's Primary sets.
Then, your secondary set. This adds a different class of abilities (Like for tanks, this would be their melee attacks). You take these to add a flavor to your Archtype. Whether you're a Scrapper who chose Martial Artist, and wanted either Regeneration abilities or Super-Reflexes. Or a Fire Tank that could choose to either use Fire or Ice skills to attack with.
Phew. And that's the easy bit. Now comes the design. I can't possibly explain it. Ever played a wrestling game like Smackdown? Physical customisations are pretty much that varied. Height, body shape, colour, all sorts of individual costume areas.. Too much.

- Blaster (The long range attacker - Archery and Rifles are just two of the avaliable primary sets)
- Controller (Like a Mesmer in guild wars from what I expect, haven't played)
- Defender (The type that will likely buff the others of the team)
- Scrapper (Two-handed Katanas, Claws, and Martial Arts are some of the sets here. This is the main close-range attacker.)
- Tanker (The one to take all the damage, a Guardian, even.)

Plus, there's some images in the CoH Screenshot gallery. Check those out.

Thanks to someone who jumped up onto the railing as I was setting myself up for a picture, two for one deal.
