To see the discussion about why I'm implementing this, click here.

*********************************

New Tiers

Note that each Tier also has the perks of the previous Tiers. You don't lose anything by being promoted.

- Wayfarer: The "free" Tier given to anyone who requests it. One will not receive promotions unless he/she first requests this rank. To do it, start a thread in the Council of Luscartia about it. This allows someone to remain out of the system if they don't want to be a part. Feel free to pressure those who are not in, though, because this will all be more worthwhile with more involved. thumb.gif

- Initiate: Just a promotion at this time.

- Neophyte: Just a promotion at this time.

- Apprentice: Just a promotion at this time.

- Guide: Can promote members up to the Initiate Tier.

- Adept: Can promote members up to the Apprentice Tier.

- Herald: Can give standard assignments (involving the forums, promotion, recruiting, raising game currency for guild stuff, and similar things).

- Sentinel: Can promote members up to the Guide Tier.

- Veteran: Can give challenge assignments (involving in-game PvE feats). Can also promote members up to the Adept Tier.

- Guardian: Can promote members up to the Herald Tier.

- Champion: Can promote members up to the Sentinel Tier.

- Knight: Can give competitive assignments (involving in-game PvP). Can also promote members up to the Veteran Tier.

- Warden: Can promote members up to the Champion Tier.

- Consular: Can promote members up to the Knight Tier.

- Master: Can promote members up to the Warden Tier. With the consent of four Masters, can promote a Warden to Consular.

*********************************

Promotions

Once a member gives a promotion (excluding the collective decision to promote to Consular), he or she will need to wait for three weeks before giving another. A promotion should be an important thing now, and we don't want them to be too frequent. You'll want to think hard about every promotion you give.

All promotions (even those given by SMods+) must be announced using a new thread in the Council of Luscartia. If one who gives the promotion is not able to edit the field in the member's profile, a SMod+ should follow through and make it official. The reason for the threads is to make promotions obvious and a bigger deal than before, to leave a history of legitimate promotions, and to make things easier for those who can edit the field.

Lastly, every promotion is to one rank above a member's previous rank. For example, you can promote an Adept directly to Herald, but not an Adept directly to Sentinel.

*********************************

Assignments

Assignments are either intended to help our guild and community, or to give everyone some sort of challenge. They are optional, and can either be given to specific members or be announced in the open. Some examples are recruiting, helping allies, raising currency for guild stuff such as a hall, succeeding with raids and similar PvE challenges, and succeeding with PvP challenges such as guild battles. They should be helpful and/or fun to do, but should not be intended to help specific members (such as "get Soandso some good armor").

This isn't exclusive. Anyone can still organize events and stuff with the same purpose as assignments. These are intended to just be a fun perk for certain ranks, and can be handled differently than events.

*********************************

Conversion

You won't lose your current Tier progress. thumb.gif

The following is where you can start, according to your numbered Tier...

1 - Neophyte
2 - Apprentice
3 - Guide
4 - Adept
5 - Herald
6 - Veteran
7 - Guardian
8 - Knight
9 - Master
10 - Master

This makes exactly four Masters to begin with (if they all accept), so the position of Consular will be attainable in the immediate future without admin intervention. bluetongue.gif

To receive your new Tier, you MUST post a thread in the Council of Luscartia. If you're a SMod+, you should still post a thread, but in this case you can set your own rank for convenience. Everyone's old Tiers are visible at the bottom of their profiles. yes.gif

Indeed, just post in that forum so a record of it is available. thumb.gif

Hmm... A little confusing, but I think I get it.

I assume that the reason people have to post in that new forum there is because the field can't be edited by members lower than smod?

I'll keep my eye on the forum for a while and help people update their tiers then. =)

Interesting new system, Cspace. It seems a little overwhelming now, but I'm sure we'll all get used to it.

I'm going to be horrible at remembering all those tier names, hehe. bluetongue.gif

Good work Cspace, everything there looks fine though. One question though: How are people promoted to Masters?
Oh, I guess a second question too. Should we arrange to send a PM to the member in question when they're promoted? It'd make it more obvious without having to trawl through the Council, and I think it would make people feel special. It wouldn't take much effort, we could post a standardized promotion PM in the Council to minimize the work that would be required by promoters to send one off, so they only had to fill in name and rank if they wanted to do it that way. I just feel it could be a good way to let people know what they're doing right in a slightly more personal fashion.

I think that this is a great system biglaugh.gif

It definitely gives each member a chance to get involved with promotions.. There are definitely a lot, so time will definitely be balanced out as to how fast a member ascends. The assignments are a fun and helpful thing, too thumb.gif

Have to make sure every new member knows about the system, though (should prolly remember to always post a notice in a welcome thread) bluetongue.gif It's a great way to get them involved very quickly TheSmile.gif

Hmm, not sure. Something should probably be figured out.

That would probably be a good idea, but I'd think it would be up to whoever gave the promotion. It's possible that a messenger or in-game /tell would sometimes be better depending on the circumstances. I do agree that one should do something other than just post the thread, though, so it isn't just spontaneously discovered when a member looks at his/her own profile.

Well maybe if an example PM was posted, and we'll just leave it up to the person involved whether they want to PM, or use another method.
