Vires Ingenium
Age 26
Born the 97th day, Season of the Phoenix, 1046 AE
Surmia, Ascalon

Born into a wealthy Surmian family, Vires Ingenium's early life was trouble-free. A pampered child, Vires was given an education in the "noble" art of Elementalism. He spent his childhood in the Nolani Academy, learning the ways of Fire, Water, Air, and Earth. He showed great promise in the area of Fire Magic, but chose Geomancy over Pyromancy.

Naturally arrogant, but truly gifted, he graduated from the Academy early at the age of 16. He stayed at his parents' home and decided not to use his talents in the Ascalon Army. Instead, he spent years crafting wands, staves, and focuses, infusing the four elements within them. His craftsmanship was admired by many, but he was too selfish and proud to share his knowledge.

The Searing was a wake-up call. On that fateful day, his whole family was killed. Vires was safe in his basement workshop. He emerged from the rubble to find his family and few friends burned by the Charr. Enraged, he swore upon their graves that he would use the Power of the Flame against the Charr. From that day forward, he used his inherent Fire Magic prowess to defeat the enemies of Ascalon. What happens next is well-known...

Nicely done, I've always felt that stories which involve the main character overcoming their character flaws can work pretty well.

Vires has always looked like a rather stuck-up character to me, as most Elementalists are grnwink.gif . He still does retain his cockiness, but his experiences have softened his heart.

True, which explains why so many Asurans are bad I guess. bluetongue.gif
