Eeek, horrible distortion tone on the guitar on "State of Mind".

The transition from the intro part to the heavy part (and back again) on "There's a Man" seems forced and unnatural, like two seperate songs.

Carpe Diem seems to suffer from the campfire syndrome, making it pretty boring.

Experimentalism was just weird for the sake of being weird.

Yeah, didn't really like it to be honest. Especially since there were very few moments where it actually seemed like it was a band playing, it might as well just have been one guy standing there with his instrument. The songs need more layers, more melody lines, more riffs. But that's obviously just my opinion.

State of Mind was the best song, apart from the horrible distortion.

The drumming was boring, only basic 8-Beat in every single song, too little fills,too little cymbal.
And I didn't like the singing either.

I appreciate your guys' criticisms, most of the stuff you pointed out we were critical of ourselves. We aren't interested in making things perfect, we're just doing this for fun.

Yeah, I didn't like the distortion either. Don't ask me why Bennett set it that way.

I was worried that they didn't mesh well. The second part on "There's a Man" wasn't even part of the song until a couple days ago. The guys insisted we add a singing part, so I took the chord progression we used throughout the song and put it in 6/8. The first part of the song is in 6/8, then it switches to 5/4 until the end of the heavy part.

Carpe Diem is based off a chord progression I wrote a long time ago. I thought I might as well record it, even though it does get kind of repetitive.

I understand what you're saying. The songs would probably sound better if we spent several days on each, but because of a time crunch, they were recorded in a rather rushed fashion. Some of them had parts we'd like to extend. I'd wager you'd like the songs better if we played them live.

"State of Mind" is Bennett's song, so I let him call the shots on it. I personally felt that the distorted part should have been shortened, or possibly made into another song. Definitely shortened, though.

I agree, the drumming wasn't very thought out. Jordan doesn't seem to have the drive to go home and write a complex drum part, so he made all of them up on the spot (except for State of Mind). I do think I deserve some credit for singing, though . I'm the only one who had enough balls to try.

Bennett was out of tune throughout "State of Mind," so I had to try to tune my bass to him. I would have made him re-do the song, but he said he cba. There were tuning discrepancies in the other songs, too. I'm very OCD about being in tune, but all that went out the window during these recordings.

I just finished recording my first Guild Wars cover! I used my fretless bass to play along with "Crystal Oasis" from Prophecies. It is now online and available for download. I'll be choosing a few more songs to cover soon. Enjoy!
