If you remove the first letter, a bit remains.

After much trying, you might be able to remove the third one also, but it remains.

Decided since Trivia forum is going slowly, I would whip up a riddle to occupy us while Ratty is off being...Ratty. (:
I come in all shapes and sizes, though most prefer me when I am small.
I know many things, some serious and intellectually focused, as well as the fantastic and comedic.
Though I speak many languages, not everyone can understand what I say.
As the world advances, more people forget I exist, yet my spirit will always live on.
What am I?
(First time making a riddle, I fear it is a bit too easy.)
I come in all shapes and sizes, though most prefer me when I am small.
I know many things, some serious and intellectually focused, as well as the fantastic and comedic.
