We should implement a point system per tier ranking, each person who creates an assignment should label their reward as being 1,2,3,4, or 5 points per completed mission. In order to reach a certain tier you must obtain a certain number of points since your last tier. For E.X. (using point system below) lets say someone just got the tier Guide rank, they now need to gain an additional 6 points to advance to the tier rank of adept, this also includes a 2 wk waiting period between each tier change. Members will want to work for tiers if they know what they need in order to gain, right now its if how it is, but if they can see their goal then they will strive harder to achieve it.

****Example point system******

Rank_________+ points needed to get next rank________________special requirements
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Initiate: + 2 points from normal member
- Neophyte: + 3 points from Intiate
- Apprentice: + 4 points from Neophyte
- Guide: + 5 points from Apprentice
- Adept: + 6 points from Guide
- Herald: + 7 points from Adept
- Sentinel: + 8 points from Herald
- Veteran: + 9 points from Sentinel
- Guardian: + 10 points from Veteran
- Champion: + 11 points from Guardian
- Knight: + 12 points from Champion
- Warden: + 14 points from Knight (along with an approvement from 2 Warden+ ranked members)
- Consular: + 17 points from Warden (along with an approvement from 2 Warden+ ranked members)
- Master: + 20 points from Consular (along with an approvement from 3 Warden+ ranked members)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How does it sound? the mods/admins can also modify this if they want to.

Hmm sounds like a pretty good idea, but it might be a little complicated then it needs to be. I wanna see what other people think about this first XD

i dont think its that hard, once ur ready for a new rank u just post the assignments that u have done. the mod/admin looks em over and wa-lah u got a new rank.

maybe ur trying to understand this on whole new level char, thumb.gif *sees char gazing deeply into the sun* biglaugh.gif

I don't know. It seems complicated to me, but it would get rid of any confusion on when a member gets a tier rank.

Not really looking at it in as a whole new level, but after reading what Ziggy had to say I do see where your coming from a little more clearly. It does sound like a good idea TheSmile.gif

The idea has some merit, I think. I mean the numbers might have to be fiddled around with, and the approvement thing worries me a little.

See right now if someone was going to be promoted to Consular, a Master would suggest them and if several others (I think 3) agreed then there'd be a promotion. This would kind of happen behind the scenes, so if for whatever reason some people didn't think the member was ready for the promotion then they could say so.

In a point system, people know exactly when they should be promoted. It becomes painfully obvious if they have enough points for one of those last few promotions but nobody wants them to get it, and I think a lot of people would become insulted in that kind of situation. Tiers (from my understanding) aren't really set up so that everyone necessarily reaches Consular or Master. The other issue I see is that it would become all about the assignments, and pretty mechanical because of that. That'd make it harder to promote people because they were hosting lots of events, or making good topics, or just being friendly. Assignments should contribute towards tier promotions, but they're not really the only thing that should.

I guess I'm a bit undecided as to whether it's a good idea or not, currently. There are some pros, but some cons too. The system doesn't really seem to be working as it should so far, there's been a number of assignments (which is good), but not a lot of promotions happening.

Hmm. Well, it seem to remove the discretion of the individuals in higher ranks, which is a bit of a problem. (I think that's what Goto was saying, if not, it's what made me think about. bluetongue.gif) Still, it could work, maybe with a bit of tweaking.

As far as there not being many promotions, I recall Cspace warning us not to promote very often because that would lessen the value of it. At least, that's why I haven't given any. I can't speak for everyone.

I haven't really talked to Cspace about it, but my thoughts are that while bunching the promotions together too much would devalue the system, the opposite is true too. If tier promotions aren't really given out much at all, then the system isn't in use and people stop caring about the promotions at all. It's a balancing act, trying to avoid tiers becoming meaningless in either direction. Maybe I'm way off the mark with this though, I don't know. bluetongue.gif

Ur right on it goto. Because the tiers were once given by cspace for excellence within the forum we didn't worry about when ya got promotions. However with the new system you guys make the promos, so you actually have to do them quite often. I think that we should start the points up higher, if ppl stop then doing them then we just lower them which is farily simple. If you start lower then go higher it could mess some ppl up if they have already gotten their next tier rank. Having more points required per rank should also help make ppl want to get the next tier rank. I also think that the 3 wk waiting period should be 1 month too.

Well, my worry for making this official is that it would hurt the ranks themselves. Promotions probably mean more if members give them to others, as opposed to if members just do assignments for them. They could already be given for assignments though, or for other things in our factions, if a ranked member feels that someone deserves a promotion. The ability to give promotions is also one of the main perks of higher ranks, and having a point system to replace that could take away some of the incentive to keep going.

However, it's still a good idea, just not something I'd recommend as an official thing. If members would like to use a point system to determine who they promote for each interval, or even if a few members get together to do the same thing, then that's fine.

The interval was chosen so, even if members promote right away after the time passes, the Tiers won't break. It's up to the members why they give promotions, so this could easily be organized by the members within the current system. thumb.gif

hmmm quite true, i guess it gots both pro's and con's to it. What you say Cspace is long term, and thats better than just a quick stimulation, so i guess we can just drop this idea for now, thumb.gif
