So what is it? It's members taking their guild into their own hands. There are very few exclusive "powers" given to those with ranks. The power to promote others, and sometimes the power to forge alliances or start wars, are usually the only exclusive powers... And the reason is obviously to prevent the instability of allowing everyone to do those. What about everything else in the guild? You might see ranks that focus on particular areas, but it's rarely exclusive. Many guilds have a strong hierarchy, but we don't!

Our definition of freedom is pretty much as absolute as it can be without allowing chaos. To make it absolute, the leaders stay out of anything that doesn't require their intervention. We used to talk about that a lot, and in terms of our guild we stayed out of anything that the members could handle. The end result is that our guild would reflect the will of our members. Anything that our members want can be provided, not through a leader, but directly through the members who know exactly what they want. No micromanagement to slow everything down!
It ends up being more rewarding, can make friends, and can help the guild as a whole. It also makes the guild become a living entity. Member leadership is what allowed us to succeed, but I'm afraid that we've forgotten about it.

So what are some examples?
- Events... And they don't need to be heavily organized. If organization or direct leadership make you uneasy, then just do spontaneous things. It can be really easy.
- Creating and leading factions... Or helping to organize a current faction.

- Giving Tier promotions.
- Organizing contests, which can be as simple or complicated as you wish.
- Organizing members for anything. Some examples are the "Innovators", "Mediators", "Mock War", and the Mafia (

- Newsletters... There's no official one, but members can start their own if they wish.
- Suggestions.
- The Headmaster's Office, for suggested moderation.
- Starting things in DarkStorm. You don't need to be a GM to create events.
- Recruiting and promotion.
- Providing assignments.
- Maintaining a gallery.
- Organizing stuff in the Chat.
- Getting to know our new members.
- For that matter, getting to know our current members.
- Creating guild signatures for others to use.
- Where factions need it, organizing in-game fundraising for guild hall additions and related stuff.
- Pillaging.
- Just being optimistic, and trying to make the guild optimistic.
- Organizing members behind a decent goal.
- Leading by example.
- Starting threads (to lead new discussions).
- Just having fun with the guild, and trying to spread it around...

Most of this is easy! I'm sure you can imagine what things would be like if we all did some of this.
So let's try to get back on track.
