Since there hasn't been much interest in taking the time to write a review for a song, I'll make it easier.
The rules are simple. Someone will post a link to a song of their choosing for the next poster to rate. Not all of us are musicians, but anyone can be a music critic. Your ratings must be as unbiased as possible. Please do not flame someone because of their musical tastes! The point of this is to expand your musical awareness. Who knows, you might even find a new favorite band!
Last.fm, Youtube, MySpace, and Pure Volume are probably the easiest ways to let people review the music without having to download it.
If you wish, you may provide a small review of the song detailing what you liked or did not like. Ratings are out of 5.
The first song for review is Good Times, Bad Times by Led Zeppelin.

Good Times, Bad Times by Led Zeppelin.
Rating: 4/5
It's classic and was their first hit, but in terms of originality it's not very distant from Jimmy Page's Yardbirds days. Catchy chorus, bluesy, etc. I'd give it a lower rating but it's Led Zeppelin for Christ's sake.
Next to rate: Eulogy by Tool.

"Eulogy" by Tool.
Rating: 5/5
I have never heard this song, and I'm sorry. No instrument in particular stands out, but the whole structure of the song is amazing. It flows flawlessly. The beginning was especially cool. Tool surely is a modern master of progressive music.
The next song is "Surfing With the Alien" by Joe Satriani.

"Surfing With the Alien" by Joe Satriani.

Again, had to resort to youtube for a live version. Anyways, it's a pretty straightforward track. A fairly static groove laid down by the band while Satriani wanks for 4 minutes. Fortunately there are very few mindless Petrucci-style 32th note scale runs, and he manages to put in some catchy and memorable guitar licks in here and there. Unfortunately, the guitar is all there really is to it, since this is basically one long guitar solo. There's no atmosphere, no interesting rhythmic play, no enthralling interplay between the instruments. But it's at least a decent slab of guitar solo.
Next up is Danger Zone by Kenny Loggins.

"Danger Zone" by Kenny Loggins.
Rating: 3/5
This song captures the feel of a mid-80s pop song, and it is a great example of just that. I enjoyed the cool synth effects, bassline, and guitar riffs. The lyrics were horribly repetitive, but then again, they're supposed to be.
Next: "Fat Old Sun" by Pink Floyd (David Gilmour).
