So, my cheap headset, as well as my onboard sound have been inciting my wrath lately. So what did I do? Why get an soundblaster audigy (sound card) and a very nice 200Watt 3-piece sound system.

Edit: I'm just going to wait on the video card. Lots of new stuff is coming out and I don't want to be screwed.

Awesome! I ordered a microphone made for voice chat, and I'll be using my studio headphones with it. Hopefully this will fix the looping problem.

It should, I went in to best buy (I know, but it was either that or a two hour pilgrimage to Fry's so back off bluetongue.gif ) to pick up a sound card since my onboard sound unceremoniously died on me, and I decided to get a very nice Klipsch system while I was at it.

I decided to splurge and got a hold of the Razer Barracuda HP-1 5.1 Surround Sound Headset. They were not cheap but given the comfort, and features it was well worth it.

How's the sound quality on those? I was about to get a pair until I decided I'd rather have something I could use to play my music with.

I'm sure they're pretty good for music. I use a pair of Sony MDR-V700s for music recording, listening, and gaming. They perform well in all aspects.

I meant good for listening to while not in my computer chair wearing headphones.

If you want smaller, portable headphones, then I suggest you find a nice pair of earbuds. I have a Sansa pair that sounds great. Many in-ear monitors for musicians are also great for casual listening.

But, can I listen to music by using earbuds from across my room? Sure, portable headphones are nice, but they're also expensive.

Oh, I didn't understand what you meant. Yeah, wireless headphones are expensive.

Alright I will give you the rundown. These headphones fricking rock. They are impressive and after a long use of say 5+ hours your ears will hurt, but they are no comparison to Sennheiser headphones which are the godlike heaven for the ears. These were designed for gaming and I must say paired with an audigy 2 ZS and some tweaking, wow! I am hearing things I havent heard before and am saying holy crap many times over because you hear things you wouldnt normally hear. Even though it isnt like a true surround sound setup, you really feel like your hearing it from behind. One qualm I do have is the changing out of 4.1 to 5.1 to surround for the various games. But oh boy, it is really worth it. Unless you have a high end card like an audigy you wont do the headset justice. Remember though, this thing is not meant to replace a "True" Surround sound setup. These are for people who go to lan's, possibly not able to setup a good surround sound speaker setup or other things.
