The usual rules, but don't get too specific about obscure games. Try to either ask questions about MMOGs in general, or specific games where we already have factions. thumb.gif

What does the term "mob" really mean in a MMOG?

That's basically right, but just to expand on it, "mob" stands for "mobile object". It's really a reference to anything that can move around, regardless of whether it's friendly, enemy, or just part of the scenery. Today it's usually just a reference to anything hostile, but now and then in certain games one may hear a player use it with the original meaning.

This has been bugging me.

What is "A F***ING 50 DKP MINUS!!!"

DKP is how most raiding guilds account for present members. It's basically a currency system; you get more DKP for each raid you're in, and you use your DKP to blindly bid on whatever item may drop that you want out of a certain raid. If you outbid everyone else, you get the item.

However, some guild admins are dicks and decide to take DKP away for a number of reasons, usually if it's a "hxc" raiding guild they'll take DKP away when you're not at the raid.

What was the first hugely successful MMORPG? It is graphical, not text-based.

Ultima online?
Either that or some MUD.

DoTs = Damage over time. Usually telling the warlocks to throw corruption, curse of agony, priests to throw shadow word: pain, warriors to rend, whatever on Onyxia. If there's not enough on Ony, she basically wipes the whole raid by throwing huge {expletive antidisestablishmentarianized by Cspace} fireballs down on the tank, and subsequently the rest of the raid.
