Anyone know a nice external hard drive on sale or something?
My 200GB computer just filled up and I was looking for a External HD 200GB-1TB

Any specific brand you like or something to watch out for?
Also I see some external HD that runs at 7200 rpm and features a 16MB cache.
What does this mean? (call me a noob) I probably know what it means but I need some clarification.

Thanks, I will be buying one in 2 weeks, once Paypal gives me my money back.

It means that it's good.

I have a 500GB mybook that I'm happy with. It's only a USB model though.

7200 rpm
it spins at 7200 rotations per minute. This is pretty standard for internal drives, I have no idea about external.

and features a 16MB cache
This means that it's fairly good.

Lol, a bit more detail.
I understand 7200rpm means rotation speed. But what does it do?
Also the 16mb cache?

I have a basic understanding of cache, but not enough to really talk about it.

The RPM bit... basically the faster it spins the faster it can access the data.

Waw, please don't post any stupid suggestions. I clearly do not want to delete anything.

Troll please don't accuse him of having warez if he has not admitted it, if he wanted us to suggest to him to delete it then he might have asked. Besp, I am looking at newegg and unless your looking for a specific price point I wont just give an offshoot brand since many OEM's and generics exist that might well how you say can go kaput before you get serious use from them. 16MB vs 8MB of cache on a hard drive is well starting to become noticeable. It's kinda like RAM for your hard drive, so if something needs to be constantly accessed it can be set aside rather than having your baby spin up and access the different platter for information.

Please give me a pricepoint and I will give you an idea, but if you want something great, here is a suggestion.

Under $100 and at least 500GB, I found some good deals on http://dealnews.com/, but I also am looking to buy a good brand as I am planing on using it frequently.

The best name brand item that I would personally trust is a little this guy right here. Other brands that I have seen that are below the $100 mark are well how you say untrustworthy. If not you have to make a compromise on overall size. Trust me on this, generic is not always the best.

I actually ended up buying this:
http://www.officedep...el=SK&id=465115

It is the Maxtor 500GB as posted above. I got it like a week ago for $100+ $7 shipping. Not bad, and its a good brand. I saw some others for $80 but not as good (same 500GB space).
